Gears of War VS. Unreal Tournament III

So I've been looking for a new game to get hooked on. Which would you guys prefer? Gears of War for PC or Unreal Tournament III?

 

They are both using the same engine, Unreal Engine 3.

Gears of War is good for single-player and some multiplayer (very fun but can get old... some Xbox360 folks can tell you why).

UT3 (like other UT games) is great and known for multiplayer mayhem.

 

only played unreal tournament a few times, but i got bored with it.. to me, gow never got old while playing online....

 

Well, I went over to my friend's house and played gears of war until 3:00 for 3 days straight. It was actually really cool. It sometimes depended on who you play the games with, b/c if you play with straight up jerks then nobody's going to play...but most of the time it was fun. I currently have Unreal Tournament 2004 and I'm not going to lie, it is one hell of a game. So much mods, it expands the UT world by so much. But I dunno. In GoW you can play campaign with other people from online which IMO is FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

Wow. Is that included with shipping and handling or is the ship/handle free?

 

I'm playing GOW right now and like it so far... though I'm not up till 3 am hooked. I am a die hard fan of the Unreal series, and enjoy the it for it's non stop action, explosions, etc. I also enjoy making custom maps for it (which you can do with GOW).

 

I'd check out call of duty 4 modern warfare

 

Haha the only reason we played GoW until 3 am was b/c we had nothing to do. Then when i looked at the xbox and the pack of redbull, it all came together. But even if GoW can be modded I still think UT3 would be the better way to go if you want faster paced explosive gameplay. Eh. I'll think about it.

 

I'd get Gears.

The game has really blown me away. It is super fun, different, and when your done, you'll probably want to play again.

It is hands down one of the best games I have played recently (which includes Crysis, Bioshock, etc.)

Of course, I am talking strictly from a single player game point of view. If you are into multiplayer, than UT3 may be for you.

 

I want something that provides a solid foundation for both. Like halo. The campaign is great and multiplayer is even better. Hell, i might even get both UT3 and GoW!

 

UT3 is said to introduce an actual story this time around, with missions and such, and the new vehicles are downright sick & creepy, some of them remind me of war of the worlds.

 

UT3 is great but personally i would say stick with your plan of getting both. Gears is a fantastic single player game whereas UT3 is a fantastic MP game! Enjoy both my friend!

 

UTIII for sure. I'm currently in the middle of Gears for PC. Great game, but come on... it's UTIII we're dealing with.

 

Never was a fan of UT (and still am not) but its a good game. Playing through gears right now and just beat the brumak. Haven't played it online yet because cod4 is occupying my multiplayer cravings. Gears of War is enjoyable though not great.

 

Unreal Tournament 3!!

Every single Unreal Tournament game has been a blast, and this one keeps up the Epic tradition. Try out the demo if you don't believe me.

I'll probably end up getting both on the PC anyway, since I'm such a big fan of Epic games and the Unreal series.

 

go with gears IMO

to me, unreal has always played unreal, its way too loose and super fast paced, unless you like fast paced shooters (i dont, i usually snipe in halo), get gears

 

Well I have UT3 reserved at the moment, but I wouldn't mind trying to just exchange it for GoW. I'm more of a single-player gamer anyway. I had just completely forgotten about it when I made the reservation for UT3 and Crysis at the time.

 

I have 90 bux to spend on either cod4, gow, or ut3. Gotta Decide which to get. Hmm....

 

GoW - about $33
UT3 - about $45
CoD4 - about $45

 

go for unreal, GoW is pretty limited. everyone will just spam the shotgun or chainsaw but its a great singleplayer game!

 

Eh I don't really like modern day games unless it's GRAW 2 b/c that game is hard as hell but I still own. Anyways, I've made up my mind and I'm going to go with...***drumroll*** UT3. I saw the trailers, campaign looks awesome, i KNOW multiplayer will be better than ever. But too bad that you can't play campaign online with other people.

 

GoW singleplayer has blown me away, I haven't had this much fun since HL2 came out.

The multiplayer is alot more tactical than i expected, people that complain about shotgun and chainsaw spam are probably talking about the 360 version. Every match i've played, a majority of the kills have been by the sniper rifle.

UT3 has been a mixed experience, it's better than 2k4 but the constant bunny hopping dumbs down the multiplayer and makes things feel cheap. Gears is a much more polished game overall.

 

Gears of War is just plain fun....thats it. A little different from the general shoot the incoming aliens theme.

 

I gotta disagree with the last half of your post. That's exactly what GoW is... it's horde after horde of enemy. What gives Gears its edge is the a) attitude, b) eye-candy (this includes the dramatic camera), and c) one-button duck-and-cover system.

 

UT3 all the way baby.
