omg I'm trying one hour already to kill that guy with the dam birds around him and if not him then the birds get me most of the time ..

3 times I've tried to use the machine gun next to the bomb, but those birds come and kill me there too.

I've tried running around the bomb - same thing.

some advice would be highly appreciated

    thanks

the guy's name is raam. look it up on youtube. if you duck with a wall between you and him the kryll (they are not birds) can't kill you. You can use torque bow and grenades to blow them off temporarily, otherwise he is invincible.
btw, are you playing gow on your t61? what res/fps do you get?

torque bow helps allot, but i beat him by shooting allot until the birds/bats left him and then i shot him some more o_o
i just stayed behind the wall where you start (never moved from there)...sniper rifle makes things harder... i just used the regular machine-gun with the chainsaw on it...
    good luck ^^

You have to bait him back and forth, hide behind walls, and knock the swarm off of him with explosives before you can shoot at him. My suggestion is to play it with someone else other than the AI controlled charactor so that you can bait him one way, and have the other guy pin him with the bow from behind which causes the swarm to come after you, and just lay into him. Worked for me playing insane difficulty on the x360 with a friend.

Oh im playing the game at the moment as well and just managed to kill Raam, he was a nightmare it took me maybe 30 trys before downing him, i used the torquebow and sniper rifle to take him down.......
Shoot him with the torgue bow to remove the kryll as they act as a shield,(or get him to move into the light) then either use the torquebow or sniper rifle to nail him.....i think (guessing) i landed around 7 or 8 shoots with the torque and 2 with the sniper before he hit the deck.....hide behind the first wall and make sure you keep getting your teammate to regroup or he just goes gunhoe and gets taken out really quickly.......raam slowly moves towards your position so simply sprint the the other side and hide behind the other wall before you reach the gatlinggun and use simular tactics to take him out.....he was one of the harder boses ive faced.
great game even with all the bugs.

I did something similar use the torquebow and the galinggun, it still takes a while. On the otherhand, I use my teammates as baits. :p

Well yeah i used my teammate as bait as well, but its pointless having him as bait if hes dead...and its easier said than done to run out and revive him once hes down....so thats why i found it easier to keep him close to home.......Raams gun is evil and i found it prudent to not get hit by it often lol

hey thanks for the advices. I'm gonna try again I guess

I have only the regular guns with me, so no rifle or bow. Got 4 of those granades though that I use all, but still he's tough.

I usualy stat at the first wall, and then when he comes I try to run/roll to the other wall on the next train car. But somehow he always gets me .. duhh

but here after 30min break I'm gonna try again.

pi2guy: yes I play it on my T61 with seriously overclocked video card - it runs on 625 core and 950 memory (came 400 core and 600 mem stock), and the game I play at 1024x768. I havent checked the frames but it slows down a bit only when lots of people show to fight, and even then it runs fine IMO.

on the laptop I've altered the fan speed, undervolted the CPU, changed the thermal compound between the gpu/cpu and the heatsink, and lifted the laptop on stands in order to support that overclock :) Other games I run on 650/950 but this one freezes after an hour of play so I lowered the clocks a bit.

There's a torque bow in the room/train right before you walk into the boss fight. So if you don't have one, grab it, it's always there. If I remember correctly, it's next to a large box of ammo sitting on the floor.

yeap thats right its in the room where you reload from also there is a sniper rifle and ammo, location.....if your facing away from the door with the green button, the torquebow and sniper rifle are both on the left hand side of the room...the sniper rifle is in the ammo bay and the torquebow is behind the piller just to the left of the ammobay......
so OP definately has enough firepower to take Raam down....
Goodluck.....its very rewarding to take him out...especially with how many attempts i needed lol

My buddy and I did it by me using the torque bow. Once I got the bats to fly away, he busted out head shots with the sniper rifle. Took us about 3 tries to go through it. I've done this by myself as well but it's hard switching back and forth and getting the aim right.

gosh .. I couldnt kill him last night for another hour by using combinations of bow + gun, bow + rifle, and bow + rifle ..

my guy keeps getting killed. What I do is I keep telling him to retreat, but eventually he gets shot down.

My best attempt so far is all 6 arrows got right on target, about 2 granades out of 4 hit him, then some gun fire too, and had to take my guy up about 3 times .. and I still got shot down. I think I'm pretty close to killing Raam, but that dude is tough

.. will be trying again in an hour or so tonight. Again. :(

my tactic is this: I stay at the first wall and shoot as much as I can, then I run to the wall in front ot the machine gun (towards the big bomb) and shoot from there until I can, then run back to the first wall .. Eh not much success so far. I guess I'll try to stand up and hide behind the two big columns next to the first wall as well.

I used the same tactics mate, its one of those boses where everything has to be right to take him down....the teammate doesnt do the same thing every time, so its alittle bit luck as well.....he was a hard bose and ive no intention to try again for a while lol.....if you landed 6 with the torque and acouple of granades then im sure you close....maybe acouple more with the torque or sniper and he will fall.....depending on what setting you are playing it on.
    Goodluck

funnily enough... I was joking around at the time, but I managed to kill Raam solo on insane (x360) with nothing but frag nades and the gnasher shotgun.. (active reloads were my best friend) All I did was stay at the first wall lobbing nades at him nonstop, (I didn't stop to shoot him as the next nade did maximum damage to him, and the next, and the next)... then when out of nades... simply lured Raam into the light (where the krill would fly off him anyways), and just blindfired the shotgun like mad. killed him first try with that tactic..

but previously times I had beaten him, it was with bow, longshot combo...
hope this helps. I just consider myself lucky for having a decent boss fight (unlike gears newest version gears 2, why epic just why did you listen to the hate mail of ppl complaining that Raam was so hard.. It's half the reason why we remember him and gears 1 for being a great action tps... other half is simply cause its gore-iffic).

LOL when the kryll come flying at you hide behind a wall WITH LIGHT coming from the bottom and stay as FAR away from Raam as possible. i figured that out in my second try and didnt take me more than 10 mins

the Kryll act as a shield. they fly towards you when ur near and not hiding in light, do that to get the kryll away from RAAM and blast him while running to a hiding place with LIGHT.

lol you guys are such noobies its too funny xD

not quite sure of anyone mentioned this
but a good piece of advice would be to stay out of shadows
if you are in plain light then the BATS wont get you
but if they come use your shotgun

    1. stay out of shadows
    2. keep moving
    3. shotgun/torque bow (one to hit bats and one to hit boss)
    4. grab a friend to help you (a real friend)

    aahahahahaahahahaha

"yeah bring it on sucka, this' my kind of sht"

    hehe, nice song.

    - it took me awhile, but I got him finally. The new tactic worked on the 5th time or so. It was that I used the bow from the beginning, all 6 arrows, and no matter that the dmn birds were on him or not, I still shot. Then with the gun nonstop .. same thing, with or without birds, lol. Got my guy up one time only, and keep shooting. I guess when I blow an arrow at him, birds fly off, and my guy can score shots at him as well, so that helped I think.

thanks all for telling me that I should use the bow though :D

Oh, general Ramm is a real pain the butt the first time you try to kill him. The first time I killed him was on my 3rd try and now if I load up GoW I'll be able to kill him with one hand and my eyes closed. xD
