how come they did not release the pc version of GOW 2? its really strange because they released the first GOW and it was superb, now in the 2nd game there's no pc version anymore. i wonder why? it sucks i really loved this game.

Wanna cry about it together? Because honestly, I still shed tears over the lack of of a Gears 2 on PC.
Gears 3 is supposedly going to release on 360 on PC last I heard. -
Any ideas on release date for gear 3?

Epic games is dumb. No wonder they don't do much on Steam, they've abandoned the PC market even though they started with Unreal tournament.
Oh well the only reason I bought their unreal deal this time last year was because I can play UT3 mods. -
what i don't get is why they release a pc version in the first place if they can't release the next series. if they did not release a pc version at all then that i understand (like killzone). or is it that they released it by mistake?
-
No, Epic's logic is not logic, it's PR babble.
People who buy consoles are much more likely to buy the brain dead drivel that passes for games on consoles. It's cheaper to produce stock standard fare following a formula (look at what passes for music these days). Plus development costs are much less because it's a limited piece of hardware.
High-end games require investment and forethought. Consoles are dragging us down with their 7800/x1950 level graphics, formulaic story and level design (cue graphic comparing FPS level design in 1993, 2005, 2010), short and superficial gameplay, and lack of learning curve and tactics.
I'm being treated like a teenager, even Id is dumbing down its content to get Teen ratings. Whereas in Quake 2 you could shoot dead monster bodies and turn them into a pile of red gibs. -
I thought it was because it was one of the worst games I have ever played, figured PC gamers wouldn't fall for that drivel.

It was not a mistake. Signature XBox games were released to PC (Halo , Halo 2, and GoW). My opinion is that their revenue from the PC version of GoW was quite lower than they've expected (mainly due to piracy, but for sure not the only reason), and so decided not to port it to PC.
-
im not clearly sure, but the release date in pc was one year later (or less i think i can't remember the exact) compared to the xbox version so it's logic that only a few will play it in pc since they already have it on xbox, if they did alter some weeks margin of date release between the two platforms then i think there will be a huge difference of their profit.
And why piracy? is that a no piracy no release campaign? because i also saw some xbox pirated games in my area. in my opinion it won't make a difference. -
The date was about a year after the 360 release. I'm sure their staticians took into account the lower revenue since many people have laptops/PCs and 360s ... but still it was not worthy (in terms of money) or otherwise we would already have GoW2, Halo 3 and some other titles coming to PC.
In regards to piracy, trying to avoid entering into the topic, let's say that is leagues easier and less risky piracy on PC than on a 360. -
Yes it´s too bad the game didn´t get released for PC. I have it for 360 though the framerate is horrible. I am looking forward to Gears of War 3, however they concentrate on the visual quality now and don´t give a damn about the framerate what I have read in interviews. That means Gears of War 3 will run sluggish probably when there action the screen.
-
I don't own any consoles and the only reason I would get one is Red Dead Redemption, but as far as I hear piracy on Xbox360 is getting sky high.

I am happy Gears 2 was not released for the PC. These morons can't make a properly optimised PC game. Gears of War on PC was a horrible port from Tin Box360. The game took 1 hr to install, took almost 9-10 GB of HD space when the gameplay time was meagre. Their worst sin was when the game stopped functioning after 01.01.2009. Guess why? Because those morons suffered from time lapse I guess.
