    im playing gears of wars, it skips frames, as in, when i walk, my character seems to jump a few steps.

    as in it should be like this

    ME ---------------------------------->new spot

    but it is like this

    ME ---------- --------- - - --> new spot

    Have you tried lowering your settings and/or resolution?

    actually, i forced vsync in nvidia control, that helped alot, but im still getting the tearing effect, not major, but it is a little annoying to see it skip.

    it runs high/highest settings at decent resolution.

    it just... tears.

    Try lowering your resolution to see if the tearing is still there. You may also want to try a few other games to see if the tearing/skipping is present there, as well.

    Here's a solution I saw on the gears of war forum from a poster:

    " managed to fix my stuttering problem:

    It seems to be caused by the sound settings. I changed the option from the Audio Options interface:

    Audio Effects = off

    I have onboard sound so this may not help someone with a separate sound card in their system. Disabling this option pretty much got rid of all stuttering besides a slight stutter that was barely noticeable.

    I enabled vsync and that got rid of the rest of the stutters. I hope this helps anyone."

    i play bioshock and stranglehold at full setting, no lag no tearing.

    it must be a gears of war problem.

    Muting does not turn off your audio hardware. It just kills the volume output. Turning off audio effects means things like positional audio (anything besides stereo output) and environmental sound effects. "Special effects," basically.

    I read some GoW PC reviews and lowering the textures to medium really helped with the skipping. You should try tyat.
