    Hello, first time posting here

I bought a Dv9910us laptop with Geforce Go 7150M , with 1071M shared memory, and 3ghz RAM. So my question here is....

It is always at 1071M ?, if not, can I up it to 1071m safetely without hardware problems, and software lagging for using RAM to convert it to video RAM since I have 3gb RAM?

    thanks !

Shared RAM will dynamically allocate, though anything above 64 or 128 MB is utterly useless.

This is an integrated graphics unit, and it probably wont need any more than 64MB, but in the bios it can be configured to run off of 128MB, this memory it taken from the RAM and allocated to the GPU.

This graphics unit is utterly hopeless for any shooters (trust me I've tried)

    I ran battlefield 2142 on a 7000m with 1gb of ram, less powerful than a 7150m

so... will it make any difference if I up the shared memory? it was at 64Mb, and now I upped it to 128MB, problem is, i don't see any options to use the shared.. and i know how poor this vid card is, so ....

Actually I could play Halo CE @1024x640 min, Dark Crusade @1440x900 min and Guild Wars @1440x900 maxed inc aa. So its not really a useless card.
But its an integrated gpu so what do you expect?

Fatelezz: Its not the MB of memory that makes a real difference, its the clocks which you should not change for fear of cooking your laptop.

Lithus answered your question! The VRAM is dynamically allocated according to demand; if the GPU needs more, more memory is allocated to it. You shouldn't experience any slowdowns in applications because of this dynamic allocation of memory to integrated chips.

Dude, no matter you are using 64MB or 100GB of memory, you won't notice any difference from your card. even my 8800M GTX (which is 30 times more powerful) can't fully utilize 512 MB.

You will actually make it worse by adjusting the settings. The computer is smarter than you at dynamically adjusting VRAM when needed.

I ran C&C3 with medium settings (no shadows or AA) and max resolution on a Geforce 7200, but that chip had 64MB of its own, faster memory; a big step up in performance from its 7150M cousin.

No, increasing memory allocation won't affect the physical computer at all.
