    Hi,
I'm about to buy a new laptop gaming. I'm thinking about the Sager with 870m 6G graphic cards and 16G RAM.
The main reason I don't get a 880m is because it cost 300$ more only for upgrading it.
880m seem to be barely better than the 870m. I think it's way overprice.
Can you guys tell me what you think ?
I'm not a technician, but just a gamer. Sometime I don't understand all these small details in the specs.

Oh, and if I get 24G RAM instead of 16G RAM, does it will make my games run smoother or this is only the job of my graphic cards ?

    Thanks you.

16gb should be plenty, and I would just go with the 870m. Small performance improvement for large increase in price.

always go for the best GPU, always. Its the most important component and usually the bottleneck on any gaming laptop. Also, even 16GB of ram is overkill for just gaming. So no, dont need more than 16

I just setup my first purchase and went with the 880m. Think of it this way, you are future proofing. That GPU by itself is $1K U.S. And you would not regret it. I feel it is certainly worth the extra few hundred. But it all comes down to what you can swing and if you don't mind turning settings down sooner than you would with an 880m.

There is no future proofing really. In most cases though I'd say go for the most you can afford. But this time around the 870m has more overclock potential because most systems with 880m are thermally and power limited. The 870m can overclock likely to 880m stock speeds while still running cooler and using less power. Depends on if you're willing to OC too. Of course, with 880m at least you get the faster clocks out of the box.

I'd probably go with the 870M over the 880M, today. You aren't going to be thrilled with the performance of either of them, in two years, so you might as well save the $300 for your next laptop.

Since your after a performance machine I'd go with the best performing card that your budget permits.
