A couple of my friends have a 8800GT GPU for their desktop... single, not SLi.
I wanted to know how the 8800M GTX in the Sager I'm getting compares to this desktop card.
I know it's not as good as the desktop 8800 GTX, but around as good as the desktop 8800 GTS, but how does it compare to the desktop 8800 GT ? Better/worse ? By how much ?
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you! :D

    8800GTS 512 > 8800 GT 512 > 8800m GTX 512

DESKTOP GeForce 8800 GTS 512 (non 512 ones.. the 326 and 650 or what ever mem ones are much slower and different core)
    Stream Processors 128
    Core Clock (MHz) 650 MHz
    Shader Clock (MHz) 1625 MHz
    Memory Clock (MHz) 1000 MHz
    Memory Amount 512MB
    Memory Interface 256-bit

    DESKTOP GeForce 8800 GT
    Stream Processors 112
    Core Clock (MHz) 600 MHz
    Shader Clock (MHz) 1500 MHz
    Memory Clock (MHz) 900 MHz
    Memory Amount 512MB
    Memory Interface 256-bit

    MOBILE GeForce 8800M GTX
    Stream Processors 96
    Core Clock (MHz) 500
    Shader Clock (MHz) 1250
    Memory Clock (MHz) 800
    Maximum Memory 512MB
    Memory Interface 256-bit

Its slower than a 8800GT desktop mate... sorry to pop your bubble..and even more slow than the desktop 8800GTS 512 It is however exactly the same Core if i'm not mistaken.

U will be able to play all the same games.. etc etc.. just a tad slower we talking 2-3 fps in crysis etc (and u wont be able to over clock it as much as they will) etc etc
Its not a big enough change to lock u out of future games but... both your systems will get outdated at the same time... unless they put in a new GFX card that is...

From what I've read a few months ago, people said the performance of the 8800M GTX should be about the same as the desktop 8800GTS 640mb...

Yeah, I've heard the same thing. And I already know the GTS is worse than the GT... right ?

There are multiple versions of the 8800GTS. The first released 320/640MB versions, based on the G80 core is slower than the 8800GT. The later released 512MB version based on the 64nm G92 GPU has performance that rivals and sometimes even beats the 8800GTX (desktop), for less the price. The G92 8800GTS out performs the 8800GT.

    That's right Sam. ;)
    desktop 8800 GT 512mb > desktop 8800 GTS 640mb = 8800M GTX
