-
Im not sure that the 9 series has been commercially released yet
-
So 9500 GS still doesn't support DX10.1?
-
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
No it looks like it hasn't yet so there is turning point if i should wait alot is saying for feb.
-
apparently the asus M15Sn will have it, however i cant load their site
-
Asus has one coming out with it and a Penryn:
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/158592/asus-m50svas030g.html
Altho from the looks of it it isn't meant for gaming. Seems more like an update to the 8400M GS. -
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
Yeah but the model number doesn't match to one on nvidia.
M51Sn (nvidia) to M50SV(your site)
So these maybe update or may have newer memory. -

Looks like some was wondering about this before me.

youre probably right
the above is the page i found it on, but i cant seem to open asus's page to see more in depth details, then with that card i doubt itll be too high end -

Seems they like they got some info.
No pricing or benchmarking. -
The page opened fine for me..the card specs are still the same - 9500M GS. Doesn't say if its ddr2 or gddr3.
Even tho that pcmag preview claimed its not much of a gamer card I'd like to see further reviews . PCMag isn't the most reliable for gaming benchmarks but 25fps@1024x748 CoD4 iisn't exactly promising tho. -
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
Darn this is going to make wonder if I should wait alittle longer.
-
What are you looking for, something better than the 8600m GT, or just for the 9xxx series to be available?
-
Are the specs better than 8600gt?
I am 80% sure the 9500 will replace the 8600
Depends on the core I guess... which I know nothing about -

It is sightly better on this benchmark. -
From what I can see, its essentially the same as an 8600M GT. The link in the first post says that the 9500GS has:
Stream Processors 32
Core Clock (MHz) 475
Shader Clock (MHz) 950
Memory Clock (MHz) 700
Maximum Memory 512MB
Memory Interface 128-bit
Which is identical to the GDDR3 8600M GT -
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
Yeah but wondering if I overclock my up coming 8600M GT so I can sort of match it.
Dell Vorsto 1500
Welshbluebird that is almost the same I getting.
But a Vorsto. Nice. -

damn looks like asus is falling off their mark, not even upgrading GPU. Its the same as the 8600GT in terms of specs. Maybe just changed the number to lie to consumers. Look for yourself

Nice looking ilikeicehockey
But one thing is that it may have a smaller die so from I think 90nm to 65nm?
So it looks like not going to be out performing a 8600M GT
But what about maybe a 9600,9700,9800,9900 with it varity]s of GT GTS and sli setups?
I still there is goin to be time for 8 series since there is not alot info for 9 series on desktop. -
No way that anything above 9500 will come out
Theres no desktop version yet...
AT LEAST 1 YEAR for 9800M
And what if the core of the 9500 is diff. will it make it faster in DX10? -
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
The only thing I see that would be really different is the die size.
Anything else it just doesn't seem like it. -
i know im gonna sound retarded but anyone know any concept names or rumors about the naming of the 10 series? i just want to know naming....surely not 10500GS, 10800GTX or the like.....
-
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
Sorry Shin
I doubt that they go in 10 series.
Like ati They went from
Radeon 9000 to Radeon X something to Radeon HD
It be like
Geforce X1000 and repeat the process.
Instead of being Geforce Go or M -
I think they will just rename back from 1XXX with some addon or they would change the way they name them... just like intel
MXXXX or maybe they will have like EXXXX (entertainement) GXXXX (gaming) VXXXX (video) B or WXXXX (workstation/business)
That would make it lot easier for people to identify... and it would make the series last long in names... -
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
Yeah go with Beatsiz Concept.
Thank you I just couldn't word it right. -
alright then. thanks for the info guys.

man, all i wanted was a high-end asus laptop, that looked good (not the G1S or their new G70 which looks ugllyyyy) and had a new and better GPU. Seems like the only way is to go for an alienware or a sager. But i'll get one if august or sept. so a few newer models should be out. I had high hopes for the 9500, just because it had such a high number and wasn't out yet. I guess I was wrong.
-
But if you have the money M17X or NP5973 either with 8800M GTX SLI and maybe by then mobile quad core... or intel T9500 or X7900 -
-
The 9300/400/500 are pure G84M, not even a die shrink. The 9600 and up should be based on the G92 + DX10.1
EDIT: Nvm if its already been said, i didn't see the 4 pages.
AS you can see on the spec sheet, it is exactly the same card as the 8600M GT -
-
silentnite2608 Notebook Evangelist
9 series just not standing up to what they could be.
-
WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU EXPECT!?!?!
NEW GPU's EVERY MONTH!?!?!
you just got me mad... ugh... lol jk
-
-
Just stick with what is out and about to come out.
GPU's never stop... be glad... its called advancing... its better than having the same stuff for years... believe me... even though your the victim/consumer its still good for you...
And people do not wait... they get what they need, miss out on the next big thing and learn from that and buy the next big thing after that, or they just get the newest all the time, or they get things that have been out for a while and are proven to be worth it. -
I'm going to pray, and look towards ATI for better mid-range mobile GPUs. The Mobility HD3650 might offer a slight boost from the 8600M GT, I hope...

And when the 7 series came out no one really knew what was going on.
I my view I think there is a big gap between 7 series and 8 series.
Dx9 to 10 and Shader model form 3 to 4.
I just want the Dx 10 resolve. I Was thinking series 9 would have some clue. -
-
It will just feature more shaders, maybe DX10.1 (which enforces some thing such as AA) and more power, thats it.
DX9 came out how long ago please? DX10 will last long than the 9 series. -
So, there is no need for me to cancel my 8600M GT unless I want to wait until next year for performance to be matched in a 9 series?
-
Maybe by then dell will offer upgrades...
8600gt should be fine for now -
-
There wont be anything better than 8600gt until later on this year... I mean... 9500gs maybe... but w.e... -
-

while you're talking about 8600GT, maybe wait for the price of the 8800GTX laptops to go down, namely the alienware one. If you wait till summer it should be cheaper and more affordable, maybe $2000 or less?. But if you want it now by all means, the 8600GT is a good card.
-
Alienware M15X is 15.4 inch
The base model which will be $1499 has 8600gs 1.8ghz c2d 1gb
just upgrade that to the possible 8700gt or 8800m gtx (yes in a 15.4)
the upgrade to 8700gt should be around $200 and the 8800M GTX $500 but think about it
15.4 inch 2.2ghz c2d 2gb 8800M GTX around like $2300
But the base will still be $1499 and from there you can work your way up -
I think I'll stick with what I got, I got a pretty good deal with about £230 knocked off. I'm fairly happy, and I could always o/c a little.

When I Meant for resolve. Is now they are talking about DX10.1 and this and that.
I just think it may clue me into when they are just going to just have one standard.
