    hey guys

ive just bought the acer aspire 6920g

    its got

intel core 2 duo processor 2.0ghz
    Geforce 9500m GS 512mb
    4gb ddr2 ram
    vista 32bit

my question is i am getting really low fps on counter-strike source when playing the game like 30-40fps surly there is something wrong with this? and when playing battlefield 2 it sometimes lags with the graphics like stutters am just wondering is it my laptop or is there something i can do for better performance like tweak the card or any other drivers i can use

    thank you in advanced

Check out the power settings, make sure you are on High Performance.
30-40fps doesn't sound too bad. My old desktop had about that with a 7600GS card.

The performance on the 9500 is about a single 8600, currently i'm getting around 100fps with SLi 8600 on this laptop.

What in-game settings do you have? like high-low settings, screen resolution?

Turn off Vertical Sync and also use max of 2x AntiAliasing in the CSS settings.

I'm not too sure about graphics drivers myself, as I have not updated them, I am still using the stock drivers that came with my Toshiba.

With my 8400m GT I could run 1440x900, all high, no AA and get around 50FPS, so you can surely get a higher framerate. Like Tony said, make sure you are on High Performance. The 9500m GS is about the power of a single 8600m GT, as stated, but SLi is kinda screwy, so it's not like SLi has double the power of 1. (What did that have to do with anything?)

They are configured for "Power Saver". Remember, it is a laptop, and the manufactures want you to get the best battery life.

Glad that worked. Nine times out of ten that is the problem.
