Well, as the title suggests, I am looking for a hack/modded driver which will allow me to output to 3 displays instead of the 2 which I am currently limited to. Is there any such thing? I have an LCD monitor hooked up to the DVI and an LED TV hooked up to the HDMI but would like them to all run at the same time, even if two are mirrored. The primary reason is because I hate switching back and for, which I do VERY frequently. Hope I can find some help!

    Regards.

Well, I could, but the laptop has two output ports already. One DVI and the other HDMI. What I am looking for is a hack that allows both to function at the same time. Again, I am not sure if anything exists, but it would be great. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Please excuse the bump, but anybody have any other suggestions or can this be ruled out as not possible?

I think that there is probably a base video "output" function of your motherboard or card that limits it to 2, regardless of the outputs. In other words, when you use HDMI or DVI they're both coming from the same 2nd output. The part that makes it into the actual DVI or HDMI specified interface is different and simpler.

This does make it seem like you could still make an extra mirrored output, but i dont think it would be very easy.

Those USB to DVI things are not great, and that one is overpriced unless it is the HD dl-195 chipset. But its probably the 165 which cant do HD very well if at all.

They are about 40$ on Alibaba. The actual chipsets are all made by the DisplayLink company unless im mistaken, so your unlikely to be getting anything different.

I think 40$ is probably worth it as opposed to the VBIOS hacking you might have to do.

The only other way I can think of to do this is to intercept your LCD panel interface and convert it to DVI. Most people want to do the opposite, of course, and its cheaper to do this but harder to find a converter.

Was thinking about this too a while ago.

Got vga and hdmi output .. but when connected them to displays only lcd and 1 other could be activated.

If the vga and hdmi would be the same output then could at least display the same screen on them.

There must be gpu limitation that can't create 3 display output at ones.

There are also hardware splitters. Meaning 1 dvi in, 2 dvi out, acts as 1 big screen to your laptop.
    Be prepared to pay 200$

Unless we start a project to build one. I'd love to do that.

    Hi guys,
I have a 9800m gts on my laptop which has a wga a hdmi port.
I can get them working in the same time in extended mode but I have to disable the laptop's display from nividia control panel - multiple display.
I would like to extend on a third display but when i check the 3° it says that this gpu support max 2 display :(

Desktop NVidia card can only output to 2 additional LCDs. An ATI HD5400+ can do 3, the 3rd using a special adapter. Your NP5796 has an expresscard slot so can DIY ViDock a desktop card in.
