Hi,
I bought last year a laptop asus g50vt-x5. My vga probably overheat and stopped work. It's a Geforce 9800m gs. Someone knows where can I find another vga to replace?
It could be the same vga or another one that can fits the laptop.
Thanks.

The 9800m GS is extremely reliable, methinks you have a different problem. -
i think his GPU has burnt out... you can try baking your card or if it doesn't work u need a new motherboard...try calling asus and see if they'll replace your motherboard...

Hi guys,
I really appreciate the help.
Well, by "stopped work" I mean it burnt out... and yes, this GPU is modular and the motherboard is working properly.
I already tried to buy a new one (GPU) from Asus but they don't sell it.
Maybe is there another place that I can try to find this GPU (except ebay)? -
ebay is the only place ur going to get it at... if asus don't sell it to u.

Have a look at the NBR Marketplace, if you are lucky you may find something in there.

try baking it

Just buy new notebook?

Unfortunatly it's not under warranty.
I'd like to buy another one.... I just dont know where I can find it. -
what part of the world are you in tony?
maplins in the uk are selling the 9800gt for £99 at the moment.
not sure if this is a desktop card or not but if your in the uk they might be able to get a notebook card as well. -

Best bet is ebay most of the time, but I cant find the card there right now.
Maybe you could try using a different card? -

Hello, I was searching for a solution to my problem which is very similar to tony's. My graphics card still works but it overheats and it gets to a point where the game goes down to 1-3fps. I though it was the heatsink that needed thermal paste replacement so I opened it up and the factory applied one was nearly gone. I replaced it and got into gaming. I noticed a difference in the game, it ran more smooth (BFBC2) but it gave me the same problem, only this time it took longer to get heated up. Just thought I'd share that so you can check on that. I think I may replace my card as well if I can even find it.

u can find one on ebay... to reduce overheating u might also want to
1. Undervolt the CPU using The Undervolting Guide which can be found on the forum.
2. use a notebook cooling pad so ur vents can get more air.
3. Use compressed air to blow out dust from fans.. one very major overheating problem.
4. Try this riva tuner tweak with 195.62 NVDIA drivers.. it might undervolt ur GPU in a way and drop temps even more...

With all this , u might not need a new GPU... -
Hey thanks for the info. I solved my heating problem! Now it wont even get near its limit of 228F. I have a Asus G50vt-X5 and this might help other users as well. I changed the thermal paste but that alone did not help much. I decided to mod it and Removed the silver ring under the laptop and the plastic cover inside the ring, and made holes around the ring. Although the inside seemed clean, I cleaned it with a air can. This resulted in an average of 120F stand by temperature and 200F while playing games (Bad Company2 for example). These temperatures are with a laptop cooler. Some images attached, is a bit rough just need smooth it out. Its kind of pointless why Asus would cover that ring like that.
