I ordered my Dell E1705 at the end of april with the best upgrade i could get: the geforce go 7800. It runs decently with the dell drivers but for some reason I can't install other drivers such as the Nvidia drivers!

Does anybody know what the problem might be? I've thought it could possibly be a problem with bios or somethin I'm not really sure. I've overclocked it to 370/880mhz just fine without any artifacts but have never flashed the bios. I've got the intel duo core 2GHZ, 17 inch LCD (which I can't get to 100hz), 60 gig 5400rpm hdd, the 8x dvd/cd rw lalalaa, and the soundblaster HD audio junk sound card.. I'd really like to fix this problem because of the new windows vista( Dell doesn't have updated video drivers. )

I'm beeeggging for some help plz lol. This is the first time I've posted on a forums for help!( I'm desperate lol )

What drivers were you trying to install? If you were attempting the ones from Nvidia's website, those are desktop drivers and will not work on a laptop.

No 3rd party drivers (i.e., LaptopVideo2Go, Omega, Guru3D, Driverheaven, etc.) have ever worked with my Sager 5720's 7800GTX. The only thing that works for me are the notebook drivers on Nvidia's site. The latest version is Forceware 83.40. Here's a link to them:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_mobile_83.40.html

    Hope this helps!

EDIT: I just noticed you don't have the GTX. Maybe these won't work, after all.

Well, you could try the www.tweaksrus.com ones. See if they install on your notebook.

The tweaksrus drivers seemed to have worked but I'd really like to know why none of the other drivers work.. It's an extreme disappointment to know that I bought a pile of junk card that can hardly even be updated. Thanks for all the help and if anyone has any more information please post!

Okay the tweaksrus drivers worked...but now in counter-strike the bullets lack their textures... they're like big black boxes that fly across the screen... any other suggestions?
