Geforce Quadro 3700M Flash

Dear experts,
I have got Alienware Area-51 m15x r1, this is pre dell machine. My old graphics card geforce 8800m GTX gone long time ago. I have bought GeForce Quadro 3700M to fit in my alienware. Graphics card is apparently working fine however when I connected to my m15x I can see only a black screen nothing else. I was wondering maybe because this geforce Quadro 3700M has 1GB VRAM and my m15x can not read it correctly.

Please could you let me know how to flash Geforce Quadro 3700M to Geforce 9800M GTX?

Hey bud ever get the 3700 working? I have a legacy m15x r1 as well and I’m getting ready to update to the 3700. I was told they were pretty much plug and play as long as it’s not a slave card.

 

I read so much information that this graphic card GeForce Quadro 3700M is compatible with Alienware Area-51 m15x r1. Unfortunately I think I bought a faulty 3700M and laptop could not run with it. I try to flash bios of graphics card and also did not managed to run it. Leter on I bought ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650M and this card is not compatible with m15x r1 despite that on this forum people recommend it. The headsink from m15xr1 is too large for ati radeon mobility 3650M. I would recommend to buy GeForce 8800m Gtx from alliexpres https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOMUQ70 which definitely will work. That's what I would do soon

 

I just so happened to come across a parts m15x with an 8800 gtx in it so hopefully I can purchase that and take the parts out of it. I already ordered the bigger heatsink for the upgrade to the 8800 from the 8600. I love these old laptops

 

Oh so there are different size headsink for m15x-r1 depends on which graphics card is in use? Maybe that's why my headsink was too large for mid range ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650M... I like my m15x too, it has been nearly 14 years and still m15x keep in going. 14 years machine is not super powerful but enough for my parents use in HD Ready 720p. If you don't need powerful graphics maybe consider try to fit in mid range graphics card so temperatures won't be so high. I fried my 8800M GTX because was too hot. Either way today you can still fit high end graphic card and flash it too lower clock speed therefore temp in 2D won't be so high. As far I remember old days 8800M GTX had the some clock speed in 2D and 3D.

 

Yes there is actually 3 different heat sinks for the m15x r1. Ill attach pictures here showing them. The first one is the stock 8600GT heatsink, second I am not sure of what gpu model, and lastly is the heatsink for the 8800m gtx/9800m gt

 

One of the best thing you can do with these to keep temps down for example mine has a x9000 cpu and will have a 8800m GTX I use grizzly liquid metal or kyronaught.

 

Thanks for that, I wish I know that earlier that there are different headsinks sizes. I will get that grizzly liquid for 8800M GTX.

 

When applying it you have to be extremely careful or you can short the board with the liquid metal variant. Please watch the video linus and others have made about applying it to gpus/cpus.
