It's probably just because of the dilation of your pupils when you're playing really dark games. When you exit the game (dark) and look at a bright screen, it seems a whole lot brighter because of your dilated pupils but your eyes adjust over time.

There's no real cure for it because it's a reflex. :) You could try playing in a lighted room (I'm assuming you're playing with the lights out)

yes and no, firstly i play SOF2, the game setting are whiter and brighter in the game... if my game crashes.. my entire desktop will be whiter and brighter like you said.

As for Quake 4, well i have the game but have not installed it yet.

THere's something wrong with the closing of the game, because the games settings transfer to the Desktop.

I do not know of a solution. BUT, try this, instead of closing the game normaly. press CTRL+ALT+DELETE then right click on the game and end task it.
See if that will do the trick.

Other than that, the only way to fix it, is to restart the computer, START turnoff, restart.

It is annoying.. and in some cases i do just work on the brighter and whiter screen when i got important files open and then restart later.

    hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

Not normal, but not unheard of. Some games that adjust gamma in-game fail to reset it properly when the game exits. This can be a game issue, but also a driver issue.

What drivers are you using? The latest one from Asus for the A2D are ancient, so upgrade to the latest Omega drivers or the latest Catalyst directly from ATI (using Mobility Modder ) and see if that fix your problem. The latest drivers should also noticably improve OpenGL game performance which will help Quake IV.

I had the same problem with KOTOR2 - it messed up my desktop's color balance/brightness, etc. They released a patch that fixed it, I'd expect them to do the same for Quake4.
