Hi,
I need to buy a laptop but to be honest, I can only think of is FSX performance after SP1.
Can FSX run decently on a laptop? I need some advice, suggestions, etc. The price is an issue, aprox. US $1,500- 1,700.
Tks in advance.

If you are in the market for a gaming laptop (which you want it to run FSX smoothly with all the eye candies enabled), then my advice to you is wait.
As Santa Rosa just stepped in, however the promised DirectX 10 mobile graphic cards are nowhere to be seen yet. Possibly sometimes in June or July as rumored around the forums.
Anyway, my point is: FSX will have another patch coming soon, which will be featuring DirectX 10 compatibility, performance and visual boost. That you will see some really impressive visual update and more frame rate boost because of DirectX 10.
As your budget is quite high, so I would suspect that you won't have any trouble choosing a DriecctX 10 card gaming laptop once they are available. -
How much of an improvement will this make in terms of performance?
Do you think an 8400M-G gpu would be able to run FSX on medium settings with over 25 frames (along with c2d T7100, 1GB ram)? -

With the SP1 patch? oh, definitely over 25 frames per second with medium settings (no light bloom effect), that's for sure! However, I would recommend you get 2 GB of RAM to handle all that glorious eye candies....
Since nobody has the 8400M Go card to verify this, all we have to do is wait and pray ... -
oh and screenshots would be awesome too ^.^
I haven't played the FS series since FS2002, on a computer with 256 RAM and integrated graphics lol.. and even that was laggy and with gross graphics. -
Don't expect too much from my crappy graphic card, ha ha... (shamefully shaking my head as I get around 20~30 with medium-high settings...)
Anyway, here's some posts from the AVSIM forums, you can see tons screenshots from people with some beefy gaming rigs. Just give you some idea.

Thanks for the answer. The magic word "wait" maybe the clue for a good FSX performance, if the "waiting" in not more of 2 months, as you suggest in regard of the new DirectX 10, FS "new patch" and graphic units.
