Hi guys,
Everything I've googled has led me to answers about making Optimus use the Nvidia card over the integrated one, but nothing about the other way around.
For various games I've got the cpu doing the graphics to save power, heat, noise etc. But whenever I try to get Dragon Age Origins to use Intel, it refuses and just uses the 765m instead.
I've tried using the Nvidia control panel and changing the program setting to integrated, I've even tried running the .exe by right-click>run with graphics processor>integrated
It's become more about the principal of trying to get it to work, than a genuine needLike I say, other games work just fine, but not this one.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Have you tried the global setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel? Obviously you'd have to change it back each time after finishing the game session, so not an ideal solution.
If I have time later I'll try and see if I can replicate this bug on my laptop. -
Changing the global setting to integrated doesnt seem to make a difference. With dragon age then set to use either the global or integrated, it still uses the 765m.

The exe might be calling another exe, so maybe you have the wrong program set in control panel. Look for other exe's in the directory.

I've added all the .exes that I can find for DA, at least any that show up in search or in the folders. The system info file made by DA in the "My Games" folder also lists the Intel HD4600 as the graphics card, so I don't even know where it's getting this idea from.
I've tried changing the overall global setting to integrated, and it still runs on Nvidia. I don't see how it can be doing that though.
Any other game I've tried follows the settings in the Nvidia config tool... annoying!
EDIT: I've fixed it! Turns out that even though I'd set it to use integrated, it was still using the 765m for PhysX. Using the control panel to make the cpu handle PhysX and graphics means the whole thing is now run flawlessly, with good fps, at 60 degrees with no fan noise. Result!
Is there any way to set PhysX on a program by program basis? Or will i just have to rememeber to switch this around?Cakefish likes this. -
Unfortunately you have to manually switch PhysX.

Okay thanks.
Not a big issue anyway I guess.
Thanks guys! -
Ah, OK then so I won't have to reinstall to check it out after all. Glad you managed to fix it. I can keep that solution in mind if I ever come across this problem.
