I want to record me playing F1 2011 using fraps on my Vostro 3550 laptop, while playing it on my PC, so that the framerate doesn't get affected as I play. At the moment, as soon as I hit the record button, the framerate drops a lot and makes it harder to play, especially for doing hotlaps.

Effectively, I want to be using the laptop as a monitor and record what it sees. It should be simple, but it doesn't seem like it can be done unless anyone can suggest something? There's only HDMI and VGA outputs on the laptop. I presume it would have been possible if there was an HDMI input?

Thanks, that seems interesting. My laptop has a 34mm express card slot. I'm gonna do some more research, but that looks like it might work, although quite expensive.
