    Hi guys,
well before you go shouting me down :D I tried posting this question at the GRAW2 forums technical support page but with no help, so since I like this forum so much (and you all are so god damn gifted techs ;)) I'd try to get some help here.

Well I got GRAW2 with my system and wanted to do some benchmarks in the game ASAP, but when trying to go into options (and when exiting in-game) the game crashes to the desktop leaving this messag:

    "Crash in application version: 30621.2562
data\lib\script_network\networkmanager.dsf(-1): cant find member: exe_version in type <Application>

    SCRIPT STACK:
    data\lib\utils\guimenu.dsf(0)
    data\lib\managers\menumanager.dsf(0)
    data\lib\utils\guienchants.dsf(0)
    data\lib\utils\guienchants.dsf(0)

    Renderer: threaded
    Physics : threaded"

If ANYONE has had similar problems, the please tell me IF you fixed it, and how.
    Thanks in advance!

It's a shame that this game actually comes with the computer and it runs like crap on it or it doesnt run at all. Have you tried the patchs that are avaiable, you can get them here,
    1.02 http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/29630
    1.03 http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/30122
    1.04 http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/30403

I don't know if the last one includes all of the patches but the site says it patches v1.03 to 1.04, try downloading the 1.04 patch first and see if it works, if not install the other patches first

Thanks wogstaa. I tried it first without any patches and then went straight on to 1.04 and that didn't help the matter. Havn't you been able to get yours to run more smoothly?
And have you tried Crysis? Because that runs really crappy for me aswell! I'm starting to question my m1730 buy!

GRAW 2 still runs bad even with the patches and updated drivers for me. I'm using the 'Crysis' drivers 169.04 and it runs much better than before, it is playable at 1280x768 resolution with everything on medium and no antialiasing. I did notice that the Call of Duty 4 demo plays much better with these drivers with SLi on. I think the main problem with the m1730 is the drivers, mainly the way they handle SLi, with the Dell drivers, Call of duty 4 plays much better with SLi turned off, with the 169.04 drivers, it plays way better with SLi turned on, as does Counter Strike Source and I believe battlefield 2 as well, although I haven't really tested BF2 properly yet.

Lets hope Dell gets their act together with the drivers

Ok. I'll be buying CoD4 also, so hope to have a good experience with that as well.

Make sure you try the demo out first, because its not that good, but you also have the extreme processor and 4gb RAM, that might make a difference. Was the PhysX card optional when you bought yours? Do you mind telling me how much money you spent on that configuration?

You might also benefit from a 7200rpm hard drive if you ever decide to change it

Is the game not that good, or what are you refering to? No the PhysX was not optional, I got about 55% discount with this machine because I bought it through a friend at Dell! :D It works pretty good apart from bad drivers. I hope to have good experiences soon. Yeah I'll definantly upgrade my harddrive. Do you know if I can put a 7200rpm harddrive in it and keep my 250GB 5400 RPM that I've already got?

Sorry, Call of Duty 4 is an awesome game but it doesn't play as well as it does on xbox360, at least it doesn't with these drivers and this build of the game, hopefully the full game will be better optimized.

The 1730 has 2 SATA connectors so you can have both drives connected at the same time.

55% off is crazy (is that a typo?), thats 50% more than I recieved off the price lol, does your friend work in sales? Maybe I should make a friend who works at Dell, or maybe I could get a job at dell, I just finished school this year :)

Whats your FPS and settings in CoD4? I really hope its not all games that run badly on the 1730! No 55% is right :p Ok, I'll look into the harddrive prob, though I heard that if the hdd has a big capacity it will make up for the RPM loss in performance.

I did a FRAPS benchmark and I actually managed to play through the whole demo and it was a much better experience than with any other drivers I have tried

    Frames: 47439
    Time (ms): 823625
    Min: 0fps
Max: 681fps (I don't know where that came from)
    Average: 57.6fps

    Settings were
    Resolution: 1280x720
Shadows, specular map, depth of field, glow, soften smoke edges, ragdoll, bullet impact: All set to on
Number of dynamic lights and model and water detail: Set to medium (it wouldnt let me set them higher)
Number of corpses: set to medium

    Texture filtering was on auto
    antistropic filtering was on max
texture resolution, normal map reslolution, specular map resolution: all set to Extra, which is the highest setting.

And I can confidently say this game looks damn good, but I would really love to play it at native resolution 1920x1200 but that ain't happening :(

Just played again at 1920x1200, it is playable but the framerate drops below 20 sometimes, but it looks so pretty
Same settings as above but 1920x1200 resolution
    FRAPS benchmark says:
    Frames: 27275
    Time (ms): 731159
    Min: 0fps
Max: 542 (again I don't know where it got that from, maybe the menu screen if your lucky)
    Average: 37.3

The drivers are a huge improvement from the others, before trying to play with these settings and native resolution resulted in less than 10fps on average.
Lets hope some of the newer drivers bring out the potential of the 8700m GPUs

Ok it might be playable for me with those FPS. Anyway I might have a solution for the crash prob which I'm going to try out when I get home from work. Just played CoD4 this morning and got great framerates at 1600x1200 with everything at max. Could even set 2x AA on and it was kinda playable. Do you know what command to use in the console to see your FPS? Know there is one, so you don't have to use FRAPS.

I don't know the command but I would really reccommend that you use FRAPS, it's a pretty small program and it show the FPS and a graph on the little LCD screen on the top of the keyboard.
