    Hello fellow gamers and Forumers!

I just purchased the game, installed it, and was absolutly blown by the first part of the game! truly next gen graphics from the large enviroment aspect. (anyone who played the game would know what im talking about..the part where you get a good view of Mexico city. Woho!)

unfortunatly the game will NOT stop CRASHING! I updated my Nvidia drivers to the "Reliable" 84.21 but it even got worst! with the new drivers I would get a maximum of 10 seconds of gameplay till the machine crashes! so i rolled back to the stock drivers and runs fairly longer but still, very buggy and very crashy. And although i installed the 1.20 patch, the problem stil reared its ugly head.

Also, I purchased half-life 2 a month ago (mind blowing game) and finished the game. fast forword a bit after I installed new drivers and craved playing HL2 again and the game was so crash prone! keeping in mind that previously upon installing it I managed to breeze through the entire game without any problems at all.

any suggestions on how I maybe able to tackle the problem? Other than lowering the details, resolution, etc.

    Thank you!

Try ending tasks in your process bar and stop and disable your anti-virus.

You might want to try some newer drivers than 84.21 - give the 91.31's a try and see if they help.

    What are your system specs?

    Scan for virus/spyware.

Thanks Mr. ATI follower, your advice helped. the game didnt crash ever since i disabled my firewall and Anti-virus software.

Chaz, Do you think installing, trying out several drivers and going back and forth between them could result in errors and undesirable crashes?

    thanks

Not if you follow the steps in this guide:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64910
Also use DriverCleaner Pro to clean up your drivers.

well, I downloaded and ran Driver cleaner, carefully followed the instuctions and cleaned my computer of old drivers. But when I tried installing the 91.31 driver I got the blue screen of death! it is so odd since I already installed those drivers a month ago and it was working perfectly fine. I think it might be some sort of program or something that is causing a conflict. The only two programs that I think might be conflicting are Notebook hardware control and Tune XP...maybe you guys can tell me.

For now Im running the good ol 78.51's. Although I cant help but to feel that im outdated.

    thanks

No, don't mention it. That's what I do when I play BF2 online.

The Blue Screen Of Death? That's exactly what I got when I installed the new Mobility Catalyst 6.7 drivers. Then I restarted Windows and an option list came up. It says which configuration I want to start Windows in. I chose "Start Windows Normally" and the Blue Screen Of Death didn't appear again.
