Could someone explain to me what ghosting looks like who has experienced it. I am not sure if I have some or not. Thanks.

i think its when your screen usually has a higher ms response time
[how fast the monitor changes from one color to another ]
i.e 5 ms is good whereas 16 is not very good
so ghosting is when you have things still on the screen when they are already in a different place

    i might be wrong though

Yea, it can occur when you screen has a high response time. I don't think I have it, my monitor has 6ms response time. Images weren't staying, sometimes they would just have this tiny bit of white around them, but it could have been the rendering as much as anything. Thanks!

It's like when u move your mouse, and your curser feels like its being dragged through the screen, like its stretched through the path u went into for about an inch or so (pending on response rate mine was 20 ms lol).

my roommate has a slow response time on his sony LCD and it hurts my eyes to play games on it

i have an 8ms monitor and experience no ghosting at all while playing rainbow six vegas. when i play on his monitor and i move around everything leaves a slight trail behind it and looks more blurred.... it really gives me a headache.

so if you get the blurry-ness while moving around and things leaving trails then it's ghosting.... it strains my eyes to play on his monitor

If you see afterimages, or "ghosts" of pictures and objects that were shown on the screen, then you've got a LCD that can't refresh fast enough for your needs.

want to know what it looks like? Play GTA vice city on an Xbox!
the ghosting in that game is so bad, you can barely see a car passing by when the screen is still!

Well, I have known what it is, but I just wanted to make sure. This post was in reference to the 24" Gateway I had for a few days and loved, except for the ghosting.
