If you could bring a single PC game back to the 90s and display how much PC gaming has become, which game would you bring back to display its power?

Personally I would chose Crysis because HELLO!!!

Gears of War and CoD4 because of its high production value and the amazing experience each game offers from start to finish. the only thing crysis will show is how much graphics card have progressed over the years.

WoW. 9 million "nerds" playing a computer game? Oh what a sorry state the future is in. ;)

(Goes to show how mainstream games have become, not to mention the logistical nightmare of hosting the game itself. I don't believe anything has cemented itself in popular culture this effectively in the recent past.)

    ^ Mainstream .... I believe could be:
    1) A factor that could illicit that a "game" is approachable to the masses and is very much welcomed by the enthusiast and the gamer alike

    2) marketing is always a ploy to the uninformed gamer

    3) some users realize the ability a game can have on a generation (i.e. mario64 is one of the most downloaded ROMS on the internet in todays gaming society) look at emulating website and you will see that ocarina of time and mario64 surpass most gamers delight.

Then, as most cart games are easy to get and play on lower-end systems, but I find also that people enjoy the gameplay of these games. I am in no way a "game" expert but I certainly can infer the relative "easiness" and enjoyment of pure fun.

Probably some sort of MMORPG as the widespread adoption of high-speed internet (and what it brings to gaming, and PC's as a whole) is, IMO, a more impressive feat than graphics.

You couldn't really bring WoW without bringing along the 9 million nerds so that one is kind of difficult, and I think they would be dissapointed at the graphics..

I personally would bring Crysis. The only reason people don't like it is because they cant afford to play it. And many people just don't like the island theme. Other people complain that they've played that type of game over and over and that it brings nothing new, which is verry wrong IMO.

No one back then have played with advanced physics systems before, they haven't played a fully open FPS before, they haven't really played anything but strait up linear POS games.. While great in thought because they were so memorable, they really weren't that great.

Believe me, once PC gamers of the past got the chance to punch a chunk of a wall off, drive a tank right through a building while causing it to fall apart and crush under your tracks. Let them explore, and they will be amazed. I doubt that for the first strait month they will even care about the game play.

CoD 4 or Crysis. Graphically an amazing achievement compared with the 1990's. Even more impressive if it were early 1990's *BEFORE* 3D acceleration (Monster 3D card).

Doom 2 for example, was the prime "3D" shooter in 1994:

Or even Descent 2 after 3D:

    And compare with Crysis:

I'd bring back a 2d game, maybe just a text adventure. Any other game will be wasted since you couldn't run them :p
