How about the Orange Box for starters?
I might pick it up this weekend. -
My girlfriend had an inspiron 1521 with a TL-50 (dual core 1.6ghz), radeon Xpress 1270, and 2GB of ram. Since source games are CPU intensive and support dual cores, and since she has a better video card, AND since orange box ran like crap on that laptop... best of luck. The main issue was driver issues causing severe graphical glitching, but the games did not play well anyway. I think the lower end games suggested might be a better direction to take.

Yeah Thomas I don't think that the Orange Box will run well for you with that setup.
-
Ya, I'm going to get a new set up in a few months
-
Deus Ex- Eidos and Ion Storm put it out in 2000. Still the best blend of FPS and RPG in a game. Trust me, you'll love it.
-
Unreal Tournament 2004 ... Original Half Life ... Battlefield 2 ... Call of Duty: 1 & United Offensive ... check those out, they should run decent on that laptop.
-
Deus ex is pretty sweet but I hated Ion Storm. :|
-
Battlefield 2, UT2004, and Half Life 1 should run fine on your laptop. But you cant run any of the new ones cause of your setup.

Unreal Tournament 99
UT2004
CS 1.6
The UT series should keep you entertained for a long amount of time (especially ut99) because of the custom content, and cs 1.6 is just plain fun. -

And actually Steam has a pretty good deal going until the 11th on CS games... $9.99 for source, $4.99 for 1.6, $4.99 for CS:Condition Zero, or $14.99 for all of them.

half-life 2 will play good with the graphics card not the processor so it might work.i have a weaker card than you but a better processor and i am able to play half-life 2 fine and you'll be able to play the episodes just not as visual, well, or fast as half-life 2 probably because of the updated graphics(low framerates)

Unreal Tournament 4
FarCry -
Rainbow Six (Raven Shield and Athena sword, not Vegas because they changed the gameplay) and Ghost Recon are personal favorites that never grow old.

Hmm... depends on what settings you want to play the games at..
Battlefield 2 and half life 2 on medium will look fine but far cry and halo on low will be pretty poor by todays standards:\ -
the best games that you can run flawlessly on your laptop are:
1-the chronicles of riddick: escape from butcher bay( i'll only say that it's as good as HL2...)
2-Unreal tournament 2004( easily the best in the series..after playing some UT3 i went back to this one..)
3-far cry( on medium settings you should be fine)
4-doom 3(not mind blowing but still a decent sci-fi FPS with few good scares!)
5-Halo:combat evolved(IMO the best in the series, the gameplay will make you forget about the dated graphics!.)
6-Half-life: anthology (again the presentation is very dated but the gameplay, story, settings and atmosphere more than makes up for it!, still kinda hard to recommend it to everyone though...)
7-Deus ex(the same here, but it's not a pure fps, it's got some RPG elements too. the shooting isn't the main attraction of the game instead it's the story, character interaction and atmosphere....this game is considered an all-time classic!..)
also:
the battlefield 1 and it's expansions for some multiplayer madness but i don't know if people still playing it or not... -
I can't believe no one else suggests Call of Duty here ... I mean ... Call of Duty: Deluxe Edition (comes with 1 and UO) is like $20 at Walmart and I could run them both on my desktop when it had a GeForce FX 5200 in it ... they are both great games and they should run great.

For an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150??

I had a laptop with ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 a while back. It sucked for newer stuff, but yeah, stuff released in 2004 and prior worked decently.

If you like the old twitch-gaming style fps games, check out the Painkiller games.
