Was thinking about picking this up, but I keep seeing mixed reviews. I was wondering if anyone on here has played it/heard more on it than me.
I figured I would ask first this time. The last game I bought was COD: Modern Warfare 2 (I actually bought 2 copies) only to find out the multiplayer hosting was complete garbage and I have constant lag all the time.
-
Actually looks pretty good, standard question time, is there a beta out?
-
there was, but it's already been released. I looked over some of the reviews, and actually went on the forum. It seems like people either love it or hate it.
-
the game is very good so far. the combat is fast paced and sometimes almost took much action to handle.
it really blends a shooter and mmo together well. the alliance versus alliance content is actually extremely fun and gets VERY intense. the added vehicles, weapons, skills, and teamwork involved turns the game into a keeper for me. -
I'm pretty disappointed that they didn't have an open beta phase and don't plan to release a demo or trial.
Looks interesting but I don't think I'm going to pay $50 for it without getting to try it at all. -
Same here. I don't want to shell out $50 for a love it / hate it game, because if I hate it... well...
-
I like the Corporation war campaign system. Any idea on the scale of these battles though? I'm assuming we won't see BF2 64 player servers, would be nice though
-
They say it's currently only 10vs10, but I keep reading that a bunch of more content is supposed to be released soon.
-
I saw a Quick Look video on Giantbomb.com that looked very dissapointing, but many of the HD Videos on Youtube looks very fun. Those Giant Bomb guys really hated it though... But it also felt like they hated it just to hate it, without giving it a chance.
They knocked the visuals for not being better considering it was Unreal 3. At least it didn't look like other UE3 games! -
I decided to pull the trigger on this, and dl'd it today and started playing it. It's tons of fun guys. It's like TF2, Tribes, and WoW (only in the sense that you level and and have skills/talent trees) combined into one.
I've done a few pve missions which weren't too bad, but the pvp is where it's at. The servers are great as well, as long as I'm not dling anything I have virtually no lag. -
Well considering the slew of other games out or out soon, I'll wait for this one to drop in price. Just pre-ordered Bioshock 2 (only because it was $35) and will most likely be getting AvP and eventually Mass Effect 2.
-
AvA is actually the funnest part in my opinion. depending on how well your alliance does, you can bring seige weapons, vehicles, portable turrets, and many other created items to aid you in attacking / defending. but yes, the PvP is extremely fun.
-
it sounds like a more action version of guild wars?
I wonder if the reviews will be bad for this game.. -
That's actually a pretty good comparison because pvp isn't really hindered by levels/ how much you pve, you can only take a few skills into each battle, and it's mostly a team game.
-
Well pvp is hindered a bit by levels, and the pug skill level leaves a lot to be desired. It gets frustrating when you spam, GO HERE, but your 6 team of recon just continues to snipe and lose the game.
edit: thats not to say it isn't a fun game, i've had fun during beta and release. -
in my opinion, the game is STILL in beta. there are a few features that the game is lacking, such as a friends list...
however HiRez is working on all that, and i feel they released the game because they had a product that worked well and needed the income to help further development. -
I really wouldn't say pvp is hindered by levels. As a low level robotics I've put up more damage and more kills than anyone else on my team before. Levels are nice, but the talent points don't make a huge difference, it relies more on skill.
Of course pugs are always going to be retarded, though. I think that's what AVA is meant for. So you can have a competent team of 10 rather than a bunch of idiots. -
That just means your more competent then the players that were on your team. Levels don't make it groundbreaking, but it sure helps a hell of a lot. Take for example when you get access to censor, you boost your cannon dps and you get to see those pesky hidden recons making it almost impossible to take down without some cooperation from the enemy team. In addition, leveling up skills allow you to deploy cannons stupidly fast, and have a vastly decreased cd allowing you to offensively place cannons, which is really fun. Of course all this doesn't help you win if your team tries to snipe their way out of a paper bag and fail
edit: Lol, seems i misread your post. But certain skills actually do have a great impact upon gameplay. Engie deployment/mech heal skills allow for my personal cannon to tank almost any boss in pve hardmode, except for that stupid vanguard or FF by a lotta minibosses/alarmbots. -
Still no reviews, or words about if this game sold well or bombed. Standing by...
How is the system requirements? I heard its one of the more power hungry UE3 games? -
my friends laptop with a single 8700m and a 2.4ghz C2d runs it at 1920 x1200 smoothly, though the quality is set at low.
