Note that though this is a non-Steam sale, you can still play the game through Steam.
I think that this is a pretty cool idea. I wonder if other game companies will do things like this?

I still wonder why we need to donate to JAPAN. I would understand if it was for Haiti or other developing countries. But Japan's doing fine in economics. They need more help in rescue operation than in financial aids.
-
There is no need. If you believe that the people who were affected don't need your help, then don't help them.
Just like the USA, we all know that it is not a developing country and doesn't have 35 million people living below the poverty level, nearly 20%. 28% of Americans live below $25,000. And 50% have household income below $50,000, HOUSEHOLD. If any of these people were to suffer a tragic natural disaster, they don't deserve any help because they live in the USA.
But you are right, the families who suffer in Japan don't deserve your help. No one is forcing you.
And I guess since you know so much about economics, you know that Japan's economy has been tanking for the last few years now. You would know that Japan has been spending record breaking money to try to bailout their economy. You would know that Japan's stock market has been plummetting since the earthquake. You would know that this earthquake is expected to have serious long term affects on Japan's economy. You would know that factories and businesses have been shut down and people are unemployed and out of jobs simply because there is no job to be had now.
But really, what does this have to do with the average family in Japan that have lost their homes, their jobs and are living in shelters right now with no place to return to? As I said above, it doesn't matter if a country is not 3rd world. That doesn't mean everyone in that country is making 6 figuer salaries and aren't having to deal with poverty. Even a middle class family would be devastated if they lost their home/job and family in a natural disaster like this.
I think it's great that this company decided to give their proceeds to this tragedy. Sure everyone has limited budget and we all have to decide which charity we want to donate our money to. But I think belittling the situation that many Japanese are facing is terrible. If you want to give your money to Haiti, then do so, but don't insult others who are have decided that Japan's crisis is a worthy cause to donate their money to. -
Humanitarian organizations don't care where it is, since they care about humans. You generally donate money in place of physical assistance, because sometimes it isn't feasible to hop on a plane and lend a hand in person. Money donated is used to feed and shelter not only the people hit by the disaster, but those who help in recovery, among other things (like paying for materials to rebuild).
Also if anything, it is beneficial for everyone if Japan gets back on its' feet asap. As the 3rd largest economy and technological leader, Japanese downtime has far-reaching consequences that you'll feel in ways you don't even think of right now - flash based memory (ssd's) have had production cut or halted due to the quake, and you'll see higher prices or delayed rollouts soon. That and, the world economy is already still in a recession, this is only going to hinder economic recovery or at worst, send us back into a depression. -
dont plan on playing but bought to help the cause

I'm fine with donating money to Japan, but I just hope the money goes directly to those affected, not to the Japanese government.
-
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for people helping, it's just frustrating when only 50% or less of your funds actually go to helping. This is why I prefer directly volunteering directly. -
Meh. This is for those who need a little "bribery" to donate. Better to donate something than nothing I think.
Also, only 3 coupons left. Hopefully I'll get more for you guys tomorrow. o_o -
Thanks, all say "invalid". Guess I'll wait for tomorrow.
-
As I tell everyone just because an organization is non profit doesn't mean people don't get paid. -
All coupons got used. Sorry.
Hopefully I'll get more tomorrow. I'll update this topic to let you know. -

If anyone wants to donate more directly; these guys are also taking donations for the aid/rescue process:
http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/japan-earthquake-tsunami-relief/
They're 1.6 million dollars into a 4 million attempt, with approx 23,000 donations to the cause. If everyone who's enjoyed a Japanese product (be it game, movie, anime, food...whatever) donated to the cause even a few pounds/dollars/whatever, it could probably make a big difference. -
Thanks. Used the 3409 on.
-
Just added a batch of new coupons. Enjoy!
-
The HR devs just posted an update on how to gift this to someone else. Kinda a roundabout way, but meh.
