I'm looking at two HP notebooks, and for graphics cards, one says:
- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) (e) with up to 559MB Total Available Graphics Memory
the other
- GeForce Go 6150 graphics and up to 128MB shared video memory.
Are they actually different? Do the cards come configured differently? Will the first one perform noticeably better than the second on games like AoE and Flight Simulator??
thanks!!!

They will both perform the same, if the two comptuers have the same processor and same amount of RAM. However, the Go6150 is not really recommended for anyone but the most casual gamer. You can get a dedicated card at a very low pricepoint if that's a concern. Also, read this about the capabilities of that card.

Not for 17" HP in Canada, unless you want to spend $2500..

No, not if you limit yourself to HP at least.

I was trying to avoid Dell. I've looked at Toshiba and HP, pretty much the same offerings from each.
Is there an Acer or other model that I'm missing that would fit the bill?? -
I'm not sure about your budget but take a look at this model, it's on sale at BB for $1700 CDN. It also has an 8600m gs.

And it has to be 17" ? The Everex XT5000T would fit the bill, with a Go7600. And of course if you're willing to go to Dell the 1700/1720/1721 are good options, though I believe the 1721 only comes with an ATI xpress 1270, which is still decently better than the Go6150.
