I'm in the market for a laptop that will both run MS' Vista and Halo 2 (the ONLY reason for vista) Does anyone think that the stated card will run it also the stats of the laptop are mostly standard Dell E1705 t2400, 60 GB, 1 Gb 533mhz ddr2, 7900 GS. I would think it should since it will be one of the first games out but I would still like a little advice on if this laptop will make the cut. Also I'm on a budget of a tiny amount (college is not cheap)

For Halo2 is till not out yet and there is no info about system requirement other than it will run on Vista.
But since it the 1st game on Vista plus it pretty old on the Xbox, even if they redone it again I till think it will not be THAT beautiful as FEAR.
Plus you are looking at the top-of-the-line GPU.
So overall I think you can play it, BUT if the game happened to be require DX10 or something new than maybe you wont be playing it at max setting.
IF you really want to play this game that much on Laptop (more than you need it now) than wait for more info come up and made the decision, other than that, I still think you can pretty much play it.
    It's a monster, the Go 7900 GS.

I had a quick look on google for you and they say that it will run on a wide range of graphics cards(DX9 included) so i would say a GO 7900 GS would cane it.
But as you said it will only run on VISA.Just keep an eye on the internet and more information will be posted about the game requirements as time goes on.
The Dell you are looking at will run VIStA just fine :)

There is a bit on the intranet about Halo 2 but you just have to sieve through the crap.

Thank for the advice. I know it doesn't look as beautiful as these other games but it's fun. Heck I still play Wheel of Time and that looks terrible (really good for the time though)

I found these stats very popular but I'm not sure if they are right.

pentium 3,4 or amd athlon 1500+
    256 mb memory (512 recommended)
64MB video card (128Mb beter or 256Mb fore best performance) directx 9.0 compatible
directx 9.0 compatible sound card (nvidia or sound blaster for best performance)
    keyboard
    mouse

Also Bungie weekly update from sometime said this:

Will I need a DirectX 10 graphics card to run Halo 2 on PC? No. Although you will require Windows Vista to play Halo 2 on a PC, you won't necessarily need to upgrade your graphics card to do it. Halo 2, like some other Vista titles, will work just fine on a wide range of graphics cards, including DX9 cards. We will provide far more detailed minimum hardware requirements closer to the game's completion.
