What is the difference between these 2 cards? considering they are both 512MB, is the Quadro worth the extra $300 to put into a gaming rig?

I think that for gamming the best is the GO 7900GTX and the Quadro is more for programming applications in 3d, like if you were a proffessional. May be I'm wrong

You're right. The Quaddro isn't designed for gaming.

yup true, the Go7900GTX is better for gaming. from what i've heard, Quadro will do equally well in gaming, u will see similar (if not, same) performance in most (nearly all) games, though some might see lower FPS than the GO equivelant. so long story short, if u don't need to do any pro work; get the GO.

They both perform about the same. In fact, both are the same chip!! The difference in price lies in application to use and support. GO are geared towards home consumers while QUADRO for bussiness applications. Also because of this, there's better driver support for Quadro from Nvidia. Think of it like thie Inspirion (GO) and XPS (QUADRO) series from Dell.

The Quadro will not be compatible with as many games as the Go. Driver upgrades/workarounds are not released as often; if at all.

why would you look at a quadro? That is basically used for 3d rendering, not 3d gaming.

    2 totally different worlds there.

Get the 7900. Quadro's get stable drivers, that work basically really well with OpenGL, and that's about it. The 7900 is a gaming card that will get regular updates to make sure games work.

My father has an M90 with a Quadro 2500M in it. I occasionally used it for gaming. It's his workstation but he brings it home on the weekends and at night.

I just got off F.E.A.R. Combat, running with all settings on HIGH and resoution at 1920x1200. Perfectly smooth.

I can have the settings at max without stuttering but I have to drop the resolution to at least 1440x900.

But if you want to game, go with the Go 7900GYX
