In the few models of laptops I keep running across these two cards. I am wondering how the 7400 matches up to the 7600. Most of my gaming will be CS:S, and I was wondering if the 7400 had enough power to run it at high. As for FEAR on the 7400, is that out of the question? Normally, I would be all over the 7600, but I can't seem to find a 15.4" that I like that is in my price range, I have looked through all the brands and the only ones I really like have the 7400 in them. So if you guys have any info on how well that card performs in the above games or similar ones I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

7400 is roughly equal to the x1400, and my x1400 plays FEAR fine.. not on high settings, but the graphics arent bad..

the 7600 (technically) probably 2x (twice) as powerful as the 7400; but i see that u wan't it in a 15" lappy. most manufacturer (of 15") downclocked the 7600 to reduce heat, so it would probably the 50%-60% faster instead of 80%-100% faster than the 7400. but on some gaming laptop (such as the alienware) i believe, they clock it optimally.

Based on the games you mentioned, I would recommend you go for a go 7600/x1600. It will give more longevity as far as gaming ability goes (especially since it seems you want higher settings) and shouldn't cost that much more than a go 7400 system. It is approximately twice as powerful as the go 7400/x1400 level.
