How do you activate god mode in Half-Life 1? I tried the "/god" in console but it does nothing.
Also, is there a cheat to increase power to your HEV suit? I never finished this game when it was released 10 years ago, but decided to give it a go and would like to use cheats where necessary to finish the story.
-
First type "sv_cheats 1" to enable cheats. Then type "god" to enable invulnerability mode.
-
Enable, sv_cheats 1, and then type God.
There are other fun commands like noclip. -
After typing sv_cheats 1, load a game, regardless of where you were while you typed it in
-
I'm not sure about HL Source, but on HL1 you have to enable "-console" under launch options within Steam. Then as everyone else said.
-
AH! sv_cheats 1. That looks familiar. Thanks, will give it a whirl!
Funny thing is that the "give ammo_buckshot" or "give item_healthkit" work without "sv_cheats 1" command.
That being said, is there a cheat for adding more energy to the HEV suit? -
"give item_battery" should give you 15 armor points.
-
I think also typing "impulse 101" fills everything up for you, just hit it enough times.
-
or you could play the game without cheats like a good boy
-
sv_gravity 100
+ sv_air accelerate -
mainly.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Its a much tougher game than the follow ups. Really wish they would have tweaked the controls a bit, accidental death happens way too often, and is very frustrating.
-
Getting on and off ladders is tricky in the original Half Life, some may recall a certain ladder during a section of Blast Pit that if exited improperly led to a massive plunge to your death.

I recall....just started playing the source version again the other day, and only turned one side of the power switches on, scurried all the way back to the control room.....quick saving all the way only having to go back through all of it again, as my quick saves overote the one I needed to get back to that point.....
A full fledged remake of that game would be most welcome in my opion. -
I love using cheats on the first round and just killing all the scientists in rather creative ways. (however u cannot kill the ones taking a dump)
-
Yeah ladders are my big stickler so far. Getting on and off is ridiculous, and it's almost as if they're "sticky". If you are on a ledge and need to get on a ladder, you stick to the side of the ladder not in the center, and can't make it past a ledge above you or it will knock you off.
I'm surprised they didn't fix little things like that when they re-released it under the Source engine. That wouldn't have changed the gameplay any, just get rid of aggravating bugs.
I thought when they said they were going to release it under the Source engine it would have all the improved graphics, etc as in Half-Life 2. That would be awesome. -
Some modders are remaking the game as a HL2 total conversion. Looks good so far, maybe it'll be out this year, I hope

I want it now
-
The ":Source" remake is utter crap. Play the original!
-
The easiest way to get around the ladder issue is to jump onto them. If necessary, do a curved air-strafe to get on.
-
I hope it gets done and done well! -

The screen shots look absolutely killer, personally I wouldnt mind paying $10-$20 for that if plays half as good as it looks. Any idea on the timeframe? Thats a lot of work involved there.
-
-
The project has been worked on for about 3-4 years now, and the team hasn't released any info about dates. Although, you can see that they've made some good progress. I hope they can finish; so much work already done, but I guess I always worry considering how a lot of publicized 3rd party mods fail to be completed; certainly understandable though.
-
It'd suck to have all that work go to waste.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I've prowled around in their forums a bit, but havent found any concrete info, on when and how its coming out, its rumored to be torrent and who knows when, anyone have any concrete info? Personally I think the best case scenario would be for them to complete it 90% or so, then sell it or whatever to valve and have them put the finishing touches on it, voices, code cleanup, future patch work etc. -

The original was released in 98? I think, and used DX6. The source engine is DX9 and is what HL2 is based off of, the source "remake" enables the goodies that dx9 brings, greatly enhanced lighting, water etc, but thats as far as they took it, textures, models etc are the same so the overall effect is kinda goofy looking most of the time. I wouldnt call it crap, I wouldnt call it a remake either, as nothing was really remade, it just enables features and effects that werent available/possible when the game was originally made. " Source enhanced edition" is more appropriate.
I havent tried this, but it should be possible, couldnt you issue a command line to run in DX6? or DX7? That would effectively make it look just like the original. Problem with the original is compatability with modern hardware and OS's, that and its not the easiest game in the world to find either. -
Yes, I think they did it more for compatability than anything else. Original was a Windows 95/98 title, which usually means compatability issues.
