OK, DOn'T stop reading if you've played before.

This MOD has been COMPLETeLY redone & recoded from the ground up.

If you love HL2/TF2/CS:source and you enjoyed GoldenEye for N64, then you NEED to give this a try.

It doesn't have much of a following yet, unfortunately people ignore it, b/c "they've tried it before", but after talking with a few of the devs and playing for myself, I've found this beautiful recreation of perhaps my favorite game of all-time.

    Check it!

P.S. If you've ever purchased ANY "Source" game, then it's absolutely FREE.99

I played the beta 3 version (I see it's beta 3.1 now) and it's definitely a nice throwback to the original game. I had a lot of fun playing it for a while, but I haven't been on in some time. One obnoxious part of the game (maybe they've fixed it now) is that in order to kill somebody, you basically need to use the manual aim option because the auto-aim (like in the N64 version) is very inaccurate.

True in many respects. It's definitely not CS:Source, but that is one reason I like it. As an old CS-junkie, it's a fun getaway (hah, as if I've even played CS in months).

By no means is it anything like CS:S (I play that alot). It great fun to play the mod with a couple of friends.

I agree it's nothing like CS:S. It's definitely some good simple fun. :)

OK, so it does have a few obvious draw-backs, hah, as in, there are only 3 servers, and people don't play it all that often.

But, if it got more popular, it would be a blast.

Man, the old Goldeneye was the first multiplayer fps I ever played on the console. But it wasn't the first fps I played. I showed my friends how a true veteran fps player dominated matches by teaching them the concept of map control.

Yes, for now. I talked with one of the devs, and he said that Single-Player and/or Bot implementation is now being considered. They have been so focused on getting a solid beta out, that they didn't have the resources to work on a single-player mod.

Did you also install the 3.1 patch? I had problems with it crashing until I did. Also, make sure you install the Orange Box Source SDK:

i don't really remember what all i downloaded. i have the SDK... the problem was when i went to launch the game my computer would hang. if i ctrl+alt+del and went to task manager and tabbed out to look at my steam homepage thing, it would say that GoldenEye 007 Source was updating.

i just let it be and never got to experience one of my favorite n64 game on the PC

    Drats for that...

If it were me, I'd go back and follow the installation instructions. Since it's a 3rd party mod, it doesn't integrate quite as well with steam, as a native Mod would.

If you loved GoldenEye as much as I did, you deserve giving it another shot.

Haha, man was I a GoldenEye geek. We used to have over-nighters all the time, only problem was, I didn't have an N64 for years...I got good at getting a 64 over with 4 controllers and at least 3 other bodies...fun times. Now all I need are some comrades, and it would almost be like the good old days. =]

its a good mod imo but its still very buggy, not as fluid as it should be, the levels and the music is great tho, does remind me of the good old days, just the aiming/fighting system needs to be worked on a bit

Played the beta and didn't like it at all. They have been too faithful to the original - now I LOVED the original, played it a lot back in '97, but that was twelve years ago, and it just doesnt work as well today on the PC.

The controls don't feel right, especially the aiming (not fluid enough), and the levels don't suit the modern online FPS style. Too many players per map, too much opportunity for camping (didn't happen when you could see the other screen) etc. The map designers take all these things into account, and by taking a map designed for the N64 and trying to put it into a modern online FPS....it just doesnt work.

It was fun nostalgia for a while, and looks great, but as a game I just didn't enjoy it. I'd take the real thing any day.
