If you loved GoldenEye on the N64 your gonna love this game. Basically a cleaned up version on the Source engine. I had a lot of fun on this a few years back, there were some servers with PerfectDark maps. It really captures GoldeneEye and is a lot of fun to play. All you need is one Source game and your good to go. Hope to meet some of you folks on LTK server.

Downloaded it randomly the day it was released (beat 3) and I really like it, not a fan of the larger servers, but the smaller ones (2-8) players are really fun. The soundtrack is AMAZING
-
Is it free?
-
-
Downloading it now!
-
Its free as long as you have a (1) Source engine game on Steam I believe. Please feel free to correct me. You can get a Source engine game off of steam for about $5-$10 (Half life 2: Deathmatch or Half life Source: Deathmatch).
-
maybe its possible to get Half Life 2 Lost Coast which was a "demo" of sorts for free somewhere.
thats a source game -
Could someone enlighten me on what a source-game is? I loved Goldeneye!

http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/ <- gets you some free stuff, and LCM99 Source games are games built on the source engine (hence the name) and include Couter Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and so on.
-
Amazing, but whats the difference in this new release??, I remember playing the mod several years ago. Goldeneye is my favorite FPS, so anything close to the real game is great.

Mr._Kubelwagen More machine now than man
I played GE:Source a few months back and loved it. Downloading Beta 3 now!

-
So I need to buy a steam game t oget this to work?
-
Firstly some people seemed to be confused. You need the original full version game first before you can install the "mod." Not the demo. It is modded for Half-Life 2 if you read their mission statement. Games having the same engine does not mean this mod will be compatible with others.
The mod is free as any other mods, the game itself (HL2) is not, unless noted otherwise -
I had this back in it's alpha stages, but I haven't played it in a while. I'll have to check it out.

Its towards the bottom. -
i didnt own Half Life 2 and i was playing this mod months ago.
just own anything Source.
NVIDIA users go get the free Lost Coast and Half Life 2 Deathmatch from the link at the bottom of page one and it should work... -
I just downloaded it! I'll try it either tonight or tomorrow.
-
It's fantastic. Movement can be a little bugged at time, but I'm not complaining.
It stays pretty true to the original (which I just played a little while ago).
-
-
The mod is pretty well done.. brings back some good memoriesOk, now back to studying
-
I think I remember playing this ages ago, back when i was a little kid
I definately remember playing the re-make on the PS2, and can't wait to play this

great find thanks. downloading now.
i didnt seem to get peggle extreme for some reason. ive finnishe the orange box so its great to get some add ons. -
its loaded fine but it just wont open. got the orange box loaded so thats my source game.
ahh, hang on a minute. ive got the orange box on disc. does the orange box have to be downloaded from steam for the golden eye to run??? -
open steam > tools > source SDK orange box (needs to be the OB version) > restart steam. -
cool, downloading it as well...
i seriously doubt it can get me off of TF2 though -
trying it now.
looks like im outa luck.
cant find source SDK orange box.
im loading the source dedicated server now to try that.
nope still no good.it only gives the option to load counter strike source and half life 2 deathmatch.
sorry for being thick but above you stated needs to be the OB version, what does that actually mean.
ive got all the orange box games loaded from disc but there is no mention of them in steam.
shall i just give up now while im loosing -
You're not missing much, that game was weak.
it feels like counter stike with golden eye weapons and bad controls -

I liked it a lot... and what do you mean bad controls? you can change them to whatever you want, personally the soundtrack is more than enough to play.
-
Extremely simple and extremely fun. Every map was a trip down memory lane. I can't wait till next week, some friends and I are setting up a LTK server.
No PerfectDark maps up yet, I want my Grid (Matrix rip off map) -

yeah, thanks for the heads up on this! Played some this afternoon, and loved it! Absolutely loved Goldeneye back in the day, this is great!
Now I just wish they could throw in the singleplayer story mode... i can't even count how many times I played through that! -
The fun of the original was the small number of players and the fact that you could see the other guys screens.
This is a whole different game style with so many guys, and I don't like it. It could be any random crappy PC shooter. -
-
Played this today for a bit. I had only ever played Beta 1, which was good but it certainly needed a ton of work. This new Beta 3 is an enormous step forward. Everything seems to function beautifully! There were some lighting issues for me in the caverns map (the whole level would go black sometimes, but the flashlight worked until it reverted to normal). The proximity mines are impossible to spot if your graphics are blasted. Truly an awesome mod.

There was no camping in my day, or hiding in a corner of the map. But I guess kids these days get 'pissed off' if they can't camp.. -
I'm fairly certain there was a crosshair in goldeneye... Or was that only in perfect dark?
-
-
You could manually aim with R, but you would never use it in the multiplayer, it wasnt necessary. The screen was such low resolution (and auto-aim) that it was easy to line up shots without the cross hair. With a low resolution, its easy to get a guy 'in the middle' of the screen.
On Goldeneye source, it seems much harder to line up shots. Its faster, and with such a high res and no auto-aim, I found myself using the crosshair a lot. But its just no good, while it is authentic to the original, with a mouse its unintuitive and not really suited for a fast flowing game. Also there seems to be a delay between zooming in and the crosshair actually appearing. -

I tried playing with the 360 controller and while it was flawless theres no button on the controller to aim....huh?!!
-
-
Kids these days, you don't appreciate anything. -
-
GoldenEye 007 was a very fun game on the N64. I think I've used Beta 2 a long long time ago and I think I'll try this one out later.

Just last little bit from me - this is a mod people, and it is free (more or less, you need a newer source game) and we should appreciate the work people put into it
