Im looking to get this amazing deal (MSi entertainment notebook) for a bit of gaming and some movies. Im looking to play the upcoming Borderlands at mid-high settings if thats possible. The specs are:

    • AMD Turion™ X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor
    • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
    • 16" ACV (Amazing Crystal Vision) Display
    • 16:9 Golden Theatrical Ratio
    • Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS Graphic with Hybrid SLI Technology
    • MSI's Exclusive Cinema Pro Technology
    • MSI's Exclusive ECO Engine Power Management System
    • Better Enjoyment with Second Generation Dolby® Surround Sound
    • Realistic Ocean Wave Patterns with Extraordinary and Exquisite Textures
    • HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) Output
    • Featuring the Latest E- SATA Support
    • Built-In 2.0 Mega Pixel Webcam

Im not too knowledgeable about dedicated graphic cards since most of my past laptops feature integrated graphic chipsets from Intel and ATi. Is the nVidia 9300M GS a decent choice for gaming?
This is pretty much the best option Ive found besides the HP DV2 (12" AMD Athlon Neo) which came with the ATi Mobility Radeon 3140 - I wasnt too impressed with its performance as it struggled to play Battlefield 2142 at medium settings.
    How does the nVidia compare?

The Geforce 9300M GS is a low-end GPU and not the best gaming option. Where are you located and what's your price range if you don't mind me asking?

The 9300m GS is a good performance alternative to the meager Intel GMA 4500, but I wouldn't consider it for newer game titles. The Turion is also not known to be a powerhouse CPU either.

If you want to game with some of the latest or more demanding games, take a look at this Asus at Best Buy. $1000 buys you a laptop with one of the best GPU's, however battery life is a sacrifice (only 6-cell).

Well thats pretty dissapointing news =/
I live in Canada and my budget is pretty low. The Msi model which specs I posted only costs $569CAN from futureshop. I returned the Hp I returned cost $750 - but I quickly realized I wanted something a bit more powerful.
Ill probably still end up getting this notebook, although it looks like I wont be doing any serious PC gaming anytime soon. I just hope that I find an older game that I can play at lower settings - or maybe I could wait to try out the demo and see if its playable at low settings? (I can still hope cant I? lol)\

Anyway, thanks for all the replies.

Hmm, I would have recommended an Asus G series laptop, but they don't seem to be available anymore on Newegg CA...

Yeah, I guess. They are worth the price though, and they are fairly good in terms of build quality and overall reliability. They produce a lot of heat though...

Is there any higher end MSI laptops that you can get?

Keep an eye out for some Dell deals. You should be able to score something decent for $750, at least better than the 9300m. Visit the "What notebook should I buy" forum and post there. Good info always.

The first link KING19 posted looks to be your best bet at this point, 4570 should be very good for most games.
