So, I'm sick ... ya, waiting for my new camera. I'm in the mood to play some FPS. Now this is going to be tricky as I ve probably played all of them. lol. but nevertheless, I need your opinions and recommendations. I'm looking at anything up from 2000. Unless there is an older awesome game that I haven't played which its gonna be hard buy hey.
Here's what I'm in the mood for:
doom3 - finally finish this game.
doom3 resurection of evil - never played this one
doom 3 with some high res texture mod - if you know a good one, ple let me know.
Half life 2 - again for like the 100th time. lol. If I'm gonna do it again then it needs to be with some awesome ultra high res texture mod.
Stalker 1 - Never finished this one either. It was a looooong game. lol
AVP2 - never finished the marine campaign.
Duke 3d with high res textures - lol, ya when was the last time you played duke from start to finish!?
Bioshock - maybeee I'll play it again, this time evil
Just finished farcry and farcry 2 again ...
what else ....
finished all R6 games (including the old ones), crysis (done), call of duty (done, all of them), Wolfenstein (done, all of them), black hawk down (done, all of them including other navalogic games), FEAR (done, all of them), SOF(done, all of them) ... ehh, ya I play a lot of FPS games.
Plz help me out and choose my next play through. lol. There must be something i haven't played.
EDIT:
also what I meant by "never finished this campaign" is that I probably got stuck somewhere at around 70% of the way through and gave up. lol.

-
borderlands is good, stalker clear sky(i know you said you didn't finish the first one but this is a prequel), call of juarez bound in blood maybe,
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
CS:S.
/thread. -
Borderlands is fun even on SP, and co-op is a blast.
-
-
serious sam hd?
-
-
get both then
-
Get the Unreal Deal pack on Steam. $30 gets you the original Unreal Gold, Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament '99, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Unreal Tournament 3.
Also, for $20 on Steam is Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter. Pretty wicked fun. -
-
Dude. If you have not played Painkiller, it's $10 off GOG.com. Get it. You will not regret the purchase. If you love FPS, you must play this game (and that's not something I usually say about any game!). One of the best shooters ever. It has a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning.
Shurikens and lightning.
Also, the original Far Cry. It's kind of like Crysis except the bad guys are just mercs and not trained military, and it's a blast to make them wet their pants as you take them out one by one, or just walk in the front door, minigun blazing. Plus there's monsters. They're pretty fun to fight, and even more fun to watch rip the mercs to shreds. And if you play up to the last couple game sequences, you're in for some extra fun -
lol, guys plz read my first post ^^ I ve played all of those games.

Killing Floor? It's a horror co-op survival game. Pretty good entertainment, the game is all about headshots and there are a lot of guns/melee weapons to choose from. Tons of maps too.

Have you played "The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena"?
It also includes the first game with updated for the new graphics engine. -
Maybe you forgot to mention them? -
System Shock 2 with all the high res pack and what not, epic, even now the ambience is still far ahead of all the current FPS clones

Have you played Star Wars Dark forces 2 Jedi Knight. The single player story is one of my favorites as is the game. It's available from Steam I think. It's very oldschool compared with the games you are talking about.
-
Medal of Honor, the entire series was epic. Its mostly about world war but much better made then any COD game. Classic.
-
yup MOH series is awesome try call of duty series and the battlefield series as well.. crysis or far cry2?
-
Have you tried star wars: republic commando?
-
Second nod for Painkiller...not much of a 'story' (like Serious Sam) and it's old school but fun...
And a second for Chronicles of Riddick though I prefer Butcher Bay using the upgraded engine...short game so you'll finish by the time you get your camera, but it has some interesting mechanics that you don't see in other games...
Mirror's Edge is another FPS with a very different sort of vibe...more of a First Person Platformer (FPP)...
GUN
Jericho
Quake 4 (if you like Doom 3)
Undying (a bit old [original Unreal engine] but worth a playthrough if you can find it)
No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 (another game that uses an older, proprietary engine, but is genuinely laugh out loud funny with some crazy weapons and enemies)
Star Wars Republic Commando (short, but interesting squad dynamic with easy interface)
Brothers-in-Arms series (if you like Medal of Honor or WW2 Call of Duty...Brothers is a little more tactical)
MDK 2 (barely squeaks in with your 2000 rule, but I think it's a classic anyway...gog.com has it for cheap...graphics are dated, but it's a fun game)
SWAT 4 (if you like Tactical Shooters like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six)
I believe all of those are more recent than 2000... -
If you want something really throwback you can play Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. I played this when I was in college and it was a lot of fun.
I also second Painkiller, pure FPS, no plot! -
No one lives forever series wins!! totally forgot about those games. lol. I have never finished them but I remember that they were fantastic! now its time to find them somewhere in a store. lol.
EDIT:
also since this game is running on the same engine as nolf, you have to check out Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza. Another old one of my favs. -
Mirror's Edge was unbelievably fun for me.. a unique--but short--game that I had a good time with.
-
I would recommend:
- Unreal II (someone already mentioned it, in a pack)
- Quake 4
- Gears of War
- also Borderlands (but this is like STALKER, long with quests). -
man, this really blows. I can't find any NOLF game anywhere to buy. None. All of them gone. Only amazon has some copies left but I'd prefer to buy it online. This time calls for desperate measures. I dont usually do those kind of things so I don't know all the good websites for this, but can someone help me find an ISO of this game? I don't wanna be downloading some trojans. lol.
-
The orange box is awesome.
-
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 and 2 , Brothers in Arms hell's highway, Medal of Honor Airborne..
-
I'm telling you, Painkiller on GoG.com. You know you want to...
-
Call of Juarez, all the id games, system shock 2, condemned
-
Racing Games:
DiRT2!! Love it, yeah! LOL.
GRID, also not bad.
Shooting Games:
COD(6):MW2 I heard it's great.
Team Fortress 2, I have this game and it's good and fun!
Left 4 Dead 2, Love it very much! -
The online multiplayer demo of 'soldier of fortune: double helix' is played more than the multiplayer of the full version. Its a fun demo, been playing it for years eventhough its only 1 (big) map with multiple heights.
-
Try finding Star Trek: Elite Force if you're truly an FPS conoisseur.
And Prey was another FPS that I thought was fun and had some innovations that Portal borrowed to make into a full game... -
Battlefield 2142 is one of my favorites. Another good one, but an old one would be WW2II sniper.
-
Max Payne? It's a third person shooter, but a really really good one.
I noticed some people mentioned system shock 2. I played it for my first time a year ago, and even though the game is old, it's still very fun. I'd strongly recommend that as well.
These are both cheap too, if moneys an issue. Chances are you'll have to download system shock though, don't know if you can buy it anymore, maybe ebay? -
Ok, so I get this error with NOLF2? any suggestions?
-
. Wasn't it released back in 2001/2002 or something?
-
good luck! -
What about GunZ the duel? it has one of the best unique fps game style that i ever played.
http://gunz.ijji.com/ -
I tried GunZ two years ago, uninstalled it the same day and never looked back.
-
If you want crazy matrix gun-fu FPS gameplay like Gunz tries to be, but not nearly as unbalanced and lame, try Action Half Life.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/action-half-life
Good FPS game recommendation
