I just got my first laptop, here, and I was wondering if there were any good games that I could play with its gfx card the 4500MHD. I have a gaming PC and I don't know much at all about lowered games. The only games I have installed are Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Windows default games. I'm going to be using this laptop for school and would like some games to play when I'm bored.
Thx in advance

Well , i guess that u could easily play pinball etc or online rpg's. But if ur looking for something like COD 4 , nope. Might play counter strike
-
Could you list specific games if you know any?
-
The 4500MHD is quite capable of playing Counter-Strike: Source, the original Half-Life 2, and other early Source engine games, like Day of Defeat: Source. Unreal Tournament 2004 is also pretty playable. Performance tends to get better as the games get older, too; the original Call of Duty and the UO expansion both work great. Previous Unreal-series games will do as well.
For an Intel integrated card, it's not too shabby. -
Command and Conquers Generals comes to mind.
-
Like the saying goes: You dont know until youve tried it! I suggest downloading the demos of all the games you want and try it on your PC before you buy it! Better to be safe than sorry my friend!

Any game that runs on the X3100, here is a list:
http://x3100gaming.blogspot.com/2008/12/games-playable.html
you can probably play devil may cry 4 if you have all settings down.
I'v played the demo on my X3100 and I get around 20fps.
also left 4 dead sort of works with my X3100, I get min 6fps and max around 40fps. Not really playable on my X3100 but it's almost playable so your X4500 may just be enough.
you can probably find a youtube video of the gameplay with the X4500 on any game to see if you can play or not. -
soldat is a fun multiplayer 2d shooter
-
You could give Red Alert 3 a try, it runs fine on my Toshiba Satellite with 1.6 ghz processor and Intel 965 Mobile graphics (albeit with terrible visuals, but it's completely playable)
-
Thx for the link, also I never thought that L4D might be playable I'll give it a try, just gotta find the disk

Zsnes + FFV

It's not, really; maximum FPS is misleadingly positive, you have to take into account minimum and average, both of which are exceptionally poor for 4500 in any review I've seen. In fact, I've read a few reviews, and the only games that run acceptably are Source engine games and older games from that same era. I know for a fact Call of Duty 4, FEAR, Left 4 Dead all don't work to a minimum standard requisite to enjoy the game even at low settings.

Well, I hope you picked the right thing with intel 4500MHD for the right tasks (Gaming is less likely to be)
Just few facts to get you in the game:
1- Intel GFX card problems are mostly in their drivers
2- Updating to the latest Intel Driver MIGHT not be the best thing for having the best FPS in your games (Older drivers might preform better)
3- Run your laptop in dual channel mode (By looking at Amazon "# 4 GB DDR2 RAM (2 Dimm) (8 GB Maximum)" doesn't tell much if its running on dual channel or not" - So anyway get the fastest 2x Rams you can afford + make them dual)
4- Keep a handy benchmarking tool in your computer *Trust me you will need it* , I am using Performance Test (11MB) which is fast , just if you are wondering you will need it to check if updating to latest driver have any impact on your GFX performance
5- Use this tool for tweaking your games for performance http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/3d_analyze/download/
6- I suppose here to suggest windows 7 for you, but I wont so wait till 2010 and jump for the latest linux distro and you will notice your GFX performance improved
Now I think you are ready
Welcome to Intel GFX Community -
Oblivion works great for me at 1280x720 resolution! And I haven't even bought another 2GB stick of RAM yet to get dual-channel. I imagine I might be able to bump up the settings a little bit more after I do
-
If you're into GTA's.....GTA: III and Vice City work aight as do some Quake III-derived titles (Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force being an example)
-
Plants Vs Zombies!!
and other small games like from popcap games and stuff.
way way fun just to pass the time
gog.com website is a great place to start, i bought evil genius and its pretty awesome, high graphics and resolution works smooth
Trine also works with low resolution and high graphics.
and sims 3!! but not on high graphics of course.
edit: being in school and stuff doesnt give you the luxury to play long games, quick short saveable games work -
GTA 4 MP. Thats really fun with up to 200 on 1 server
-
-
I did it on a X3100 GMA 965
Low/med settings 20 FPS average on mutiplayer with 150ish ppl on server -
wth? x3100 and GTA 4 = sham, 20fps is almost like slideshow. proof.
anyway another game i saw is pretty cool for the MHD4500 is Street fighter 4 with low resolution. -

here is proof:

Really to play GTA4 on the X3100 you would need dual channel ram and an overclocked FSB and then tweak the game a bit. -
slidesho0w xD btw i tried orange box with the Intel 4500 all work pretty fine medium high but TF2 is really bad =/ slideshow like when there are alot of players.

For RTS, check out Warcraft 3 and TFT expansion.
Once you're done and want some longevity, you can download DOTA and play online. -
-
Seriously. I would very much love to see some proof of GTA IV moving at all on a 4500MHD.
-

Age of Empires 2 works well for me. I'm not much of a PC gamer (Xbox 360 here).
-
@ Satyrion link please. lol if you do play it, its a slideshow, and thats no way to play a game.
HAWX works but just on low-medium, worth playing it on super high on something else.
TF2 works awesome on high! theres a setting there to edit to make it run way faster! -
This is what Youtube has to show for GTA IV on an Intel GMA:
<object width='425' height='344'><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1xJlAhk1slw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1xJlAhk1slw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='425' height='344'></embed></object>
Here's another one. Barely playable at 320x240:
<object width='560' height='340'><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pj-fCllmQiI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pj-fCllmQiI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='560' height='340'></embed></object>
So, Satyrion, would you like to point out where exactly this video proof is on Youtube, since it's our friend?Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
ohh my bad i meant GTA SA ^_^
-
Is this thread a joke ??? I mean games+ 4500MHD in the same sentence, that's inacurrate ;-)
-
In that case, yes, San Andreas should run pretty well on the 4500MHD.
-
Just wondering but how does the "ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 with 256MB" compare to the 4500MHD?
-
It's more powerful, although not by much. The ATi 34xx series is pretty low end as far as dedicated graphics go. My old Studio 1535 had a 3450 256MB, which is basically the same card.

Half-Life 1 should run great. I used to play that (actually, I still do sometimes) on my Atom N270/GMA 950 Netbook, but ONLY after I upgraded to 2G of ram and overclocked the processor to 2Ghz. Framerates were from 40 all the way down to ~12 in some areas, but usually averaged around 25. Finished the whole game that way

You can play all the Blizzard games with decent frames.
