Do you think you could fill out the FAQ and post it in the What Notebook should I buy forum? Then we could help you much better. There are a lot of factors to a computer decision so we need to know quite a bit.

If it primarily for gaming, I would suggest unless you ABSOLUTELY need a laptop, you should get a desktop.
If you definately want a laptop, these guys here know far more than I. However, what you definately need is:

thats a good point you can get a much much better desktop for the same price has a mediocre laptop. so i would asses how much you actually need this laptop. but if you are loaded with cash look into the M1710

while notebook are more expensive to their desktop counterparts, many people do not have the space for one, or are constantly traveling and need a notebook.

i would suggest submitting a FAQ in the appropriate forum. without knowing how much your looking to spend, i would suggest looking at Asus/Dell/Sager for some nice stuff.

    pb,out.

I'll back the 1710 if you can afford it-best there is now. Personally I don;t have room for anything more than a notebook and I barely pull that off but its nice to use anywhere in my house and around town and on my occasional trips. Also keep in mind it won't be very upgradeable either.
