    Hello,

I am interested in purchasing a gaming laptop under about $1000 (if possible) to run games like flight sim x, battlefield and cod well. I understand that these games require a good CPU and graphics card so if there are any systems out there that you know of let me know please.

    Thanks.

Crappy touch pad but $899 nice i5 with dual GT 650m's Talk about bang for your buck. Also 1920 X 1080 screen. Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Y500 (59359560) Notebook Intel Core i5 3230M(2.60GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory DDR3 1600 1TB HDD 5400rpm Dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M SLI That's going to be one of the faster pc's under 1k on the gpu side. Spend a little more and for $1049 you get 8 gigs of ram and a i7 Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Y500 (59359557) Notebook Intel Core i7 3630QM(2.40GHz) 15.6" 8GB Memory DDR3 1600 1TB HDD 5400rpm Dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M SLI

Keep in mind they don't have a dvd rom so you will need to get a external dvd rom but those are cheap and you gain another gpu in place of the dvdrom.

Sorry for the DBL post. Using crappy IE and like everything Microsoft touches it hardly works at best.

Single 650m should be able to run those games near max at the 1366x768 screen resolution anyhow.

just make sure it has a decent GPU (at least a 650+ or comparable), 8GB or more of RAM, and an i7 quad core.... Many flight simulators are very CPU dependent. Size will come down to what you want, but anything from 14-17" should be in your price range.

The Y500 mentioned above with the i7 would be a good choice... the SLI 650's will come in handy in many games, but can have micro stutter issues in others. Running on just a single 650 is always an option though in those scenarios.

I love flight sims, it was the main reason I upgraded to the i7 which helped quite a bit with X-plane 10.

I would of said a system with a GTX 660m but that Y500 even running a single card with a slight oc should keep up and then since money is a issue it should be the best bang for the buck he can get with a i7. Sucks they have no optical drive but the externals are cheap and its a small price to pay for another GT 650m/
