Since summer has started I am looking forward to pick up a new mmorpg game now that I have some time. I would prefer it to be free, and possibly eastern, but I don't mind a good western RPG, if it is like Diablo 2.

I have played the following, which is not alot

    Diablo 2
    Ragnarok
    Maple Story
    Guild Wars
    Grand Chase (1 day only)
    PSO

Out of which, I liked diablo 2/Ragnarok the most. I like games with Big Community, and sport team game plays, etc. I am not a fan of Starwar, which means no Kotor (sorry fellow NBR starwar fans, Chaz) Otherwise, any suggestion is welcomed.

the best free MMO's that I encountered and got footage of at this year's E3 were:
    - Perfect World International
    - Jade Dynasty
    - EA's BatteForge
    - Atlus' Neo Steam

Perfect World is the "best" free MMO I know of, though like many of them its full of incentives to make it not free.

Had it a few options it was lacking (like invert y-axis) I might actually play it time to time.

Stay away from maple story its ruined by hackers and uber slow grind gameplay, only good thing about it is it plays on a computer with no 3d card so your netbook or something can play it.

Perfect World's new game "Jade Dynasty" is very promising from my tests with it.

In fact, you can trade in-game money for real money items... which really does make it free... for all extras as well. :)

    and the key features are:
    - Auto Navigation (dont have to navigate yourself to NPCs or different locations anymore... just sit back and watch your character do it on their own without getting stuck)
    - "Invigorator" bar .... literally a feature to auto grind for you for the pesky quest to kill 30 of something. :)
    - Gaining experience automatically when in town (meditating) and when logged off ("Dreaming")..... why have this?... so you won't fall behind your friends too much when you are away (of course you will gain more experience when playing)

lol sounds neat but like nobody will ever play and everybody will get max level easy.

If its perfect worlds new game does that mean like the original one its a forign game? or is there an English version?

well as what's already been said here.
Atlus Online's NeoSteam if you're in the US if otherwhere go to neosteam.com and chose it from there.
    Perfect World's pretty nice.
Guild Wars is quite a bit of fun.
Flyff would be on this list but well latency is way toooo bad for some unknown reason.
    Asda Story
WoW:TBC Although i don't play anymore it was interesting for awhile.
    RuneScape(some people are into it)
    LaTale
    Dragonica
    Prison Tale2
If you're into aloooot of reading Never Winter Nights is really good.
That's all i can think of at the moment :/

Thanks! I tried perfect world for a day or two when it was first opened for beta, perhap I should give it a second chance. I totally understand, the economic in Maple Story went down hill during the period when everyone was a hacker, and they didn't do anything to stop it until it was too late.

Sounds like an interesting game, you said play testing, does it mean that it is still in private beta?

Hello Kitty Online?!? :p Atlantica Online looks interesting, I will have a look at it. :) :)

Thanks! I will check out couple that you listed.

I downloaded another that I never played and i think it was Atlantica Online, the one that is turned based like final fantasy tactics. It looked good what ever it was.

Just be forewarned towards lvl ~90 or so you have to start using cash shop items to level without grinding forever. It's one of those MMOs yeah leveling up before then with quests is a amazing. Then at ~90 or so it just turns into well a grindfest almost as bad as flyff(the entire time).
