Hey guys,
I'm getting my new laptop in 2 weeks or so and was wondering which were good MMOs, the last and only one I played was RS, so any help would be nice. I'm open to anything!
Thank you!
P.S I'm open to paying just not like $20 a month

Cabal online.
Go look it up.
Its free, but the publisher for the North American version kinda screwed up a bit so there are hackers and spam bots on the loose -
Well that doesn't sound too nice..
-
My friends started playing Warhammer Online again (I never jumped on the initial bandwagon with them). There is a free 10-day trial out now, but after that it's $15.00/month. I am just finishing up patching it right now.
Runes of Magic is basically a WoW clone, but it's a good free alternative to WoW.
Those are really the only one's I feel are worth mentioning. If you liked RF Online then you'll probably like Cabal Online (very similar gameplay), but I got bored of Cabal after about a week or two. -

AION (release date 09/09).
http://www.aiononline.com/us/
You can still get into the closed beta via GameStop pre-order deposit of $5 (which still doesn't mean you have to buy the game, just use credit on something else). -
FFXI you could try if you're into something a bit more slower paced. It'd be a good idea to fine a couple buddies to play this with, but not necessary. The new level sync S-E implemented seems to have been very successful from what my only FFXI has told me
I'd recommend Aion too, but that doesn't officially come out in NA/EU 'till late September. Unless you want to get into the beta and try it out
Age of Conan, Lords of the Rings, Warhammer...nothings stopping you from playing those as well. LoTRO has a free trial going on right now, as does Warhammer I believe...so now would be a good time to try -
Try play dragonica it's good and addict. It is closed beta right now. But will open soon in 1 or 2 weeks. Here is the website http://dragonica.thqice.com/web/

Guild Wars is a great MMO and widely overlooked. I played it for many years.
The PvE was great. The plot was amazing and never deviated from its path.
The PvP was even better. Game is build around PvP. -
Other than WoW, Warhammer and Lord of the Rings Online are the only 2 'live' games worth buying IMO.
LotRO is cheaper monthy, and is a great game.
Aion isn't out yet so i won't suggest it.
ive also tried dragonica and it is a fun little side scrolling game. not exacty a 'persistant world' you will get hung up in for months and months, but it will kill some time for a week or 2 -
The ones that I deem good include, EVE Online (my favorite), Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO), and World of Warcraft, in that order.
Although I haven't tried it D&D Online is switching to a free play mmo. Might be worth checking out.
Just like ElPulpo said, any game that is not released yet cannot be recommended. Too much hype and short on delivery, case in point: Age of Conan. Aion *might* be good but it's too early to tell. -

I didn't feel like making my own thread since there is already one, but I had one question, are there any good MMOs that are not to demanding? I have a very old graphics card. I play maplestory from time to time and I like it but thought I should try a new MMO

wow
lol no I hate wow so much i felt like a noob in it no matter how i tried to get better
aion looks similiar to wow but with better graphics...and 15 bucks a month? I would rather do the pricing system they had at first (buy the actual time so when you are not playing you are not paying) -
Avoid WoW unless you are ADHD and your ritalin supply is low or perhaps unless you need a dose of the best incentive to never have children ever invented. (I am assuming you are over 13 mentally...)
Lineage2 is a very nice and older game... keep in mind you won't be endgame in a week in this game, and this is full-on PvP at all times.
The price to play is very low now as its an older game... but it has the absolute best community since the game requires patience and teamwork to accomplish anything real in-game. (you can advance solo if you choose easily enough, but the big stuff- castles, forts, raids, instances- require friends or at least some other party/clan members.) -
Currently playing Runes of Magic and it's quite alright so far
It's really a free-ish version of WoW
-
i guess lineage2 has changed since i played it if it has 'absolutly the best' community and doesnt take the time that wow does.
there were some good people, like in any game, but 90% of the people were farmers/bots. not to mention its the typical asian grind game that takes easily 5x the ammount of time to become useful at end game than WoW does.
(not even a WoW fan, just stating facts)
to this day i would rather play original lineage over lineage 2. -
WoW is very good. But im trying Aion now
amazing graphics and gameplay tho its still in beta so its still rough around the edges
-
What exactly is Aion? It sounds like futuristic

Does that link work for you? I can't access it.
WoW = The MMO that others are trying to break market share from. It has something for everyone, as they are trying to entice more casual players in the next patch by lowering minimum levels for mounts, easier to get Tiered gear, and make it easier for casual players to get some rewards for the time they can play. If you want to be a bada$$ in this game, you will have to put a tremendous amount of hours into it. $15 a month.
Guild Wars takes what was fun about WoW and kind of gives you a fun experience, without the need to grind or farm anything. Fun game, but leaves you wanting more if you have lots of time to play. Free to play. -
i'd just wait for star trek online ( www.startrekonline.com/) or the new star wars mmo ( www.swtor.com/)
-
Aion is a really nice new MMO, They sort of took the base of WoW and built ontop of it. Added amazing graphics, Flying Combat, etc
http://www.aiononline.com/us/ -
As far as SWTOR goes, Bioware will have to pull have a truly epic mmo to grab my attention. By epic I mean both land and space battles. -
RUNESCAPE! Actually wait, it sucks hahaha
-
I second guild wars it has sucked up much time in my life. Plus no monthly fee =D

Well I got to play some of Warhammer Online and I got a level 11 Marauder. So far I like it a lot better than WoW because it's really a lot more PvP based (from what I can tell). RvR battles are pretty epic as are regular scenarios/battlegrounds as well and from what I hear there really isnt any endgame, so it's not based completely off gear you could get from raiding.
So far this has been the best MMO I have found since WoW and I would even say it's better. -
I have to step up..Everquest 2, by far one of the most polished MMORPG game out there. Not the most popular, but not desert either, solo, group and raid friendly.
Good MMOs?
