-
Well for the ps2, FFxii. On pc i have heard interesting things about two worlds. There are others on different platforms, but i don't really know of any others for the PC. Lots of mmorpg's out there.

Loveit.

Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines...
I like this game, though old but really awsome game, combine RPG, first-person shooting and third-person fighting. Great story line, give it a try.

Yet another vote for Diablo II LoD. There is a good reason it gets some many votes.
-
I've played through the end of the jade empire and it's fun. Play the hardest difficulty you can without beating the game for the most fun
-
KOTOR(Knights of the old republic) 1 and 2
Vampire Masquerade -
is marrowind as good, or better than oblivion..???/and i am considering Jade Empire......1 more month of summer vacation, I need a game
-
As long as we're getting into the older stuff, Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale series, Gothic series, and NWN.
-
What about Neverwinter Nights II ? and Gothic III ?
-
Hmm Knights of the Old Republic is my personal favorite RPG of all time. Anything by Bioware will keep you happy.
I also think Fable is quite good. Since you're still playing Oblivion it'll feel SUPER short, but I really love it!
As previously mentioned, Jade Empire... It's also made by Bioware is is quite good!
The entire Baldurs Gate series is fantastic!
I've been recently playing Titan Quest too. It's basically a diablo clone that has Spartans and Greek soldiers. Can't go wrong!
I hope any of that helps!
Edit: I forgot Spellforce 2 and the Might And Magic Series!
And I forgot Marvel Ultimate Alliance!
I still vote for Knights of the Old Republic... ALL the way... I've played that game 4 times with 4 different endings... I LOVE IT! -
NeverwinterNights 2! Now thats a strain on your GPU lol...
Diablo 2 FTW!!!!!!!
Also you might want to try Mythos, a free RPG from the guys that brought you Diablo 2 (Blizzard North) and the upcoming Hellgate: London (Diablo 3) -
on what settings can i run Jade Empire, and/or NWN 2 on?
-
Baldur's Gate I, II, both expansions
Icewind Dale I, II, both expansions
PLANESCAPE: TORMET
FALLOUT 1 and 2
ARCANUM
TEMPLE OF ELEMENTAL EVIL (if you patch it and use the Circle of Eight Mod, its great!)
NEVERWINTER NIGHTS (with expansions, but msotly for custom mods and mp)
that should get you started! -
how about Gods: Lands of Infinity ???

diablo and diablo II (and its expansion) are truly classic games. I have played both for years, but cheating has become rampant with cloning items and the economy is horrendous. I have retired from diablo, and have picked up titan quest. Diablo II is a very dated game and there are no official plans for a Diablo III, but titan quest plays 99% identical to the diablo series. The main differences are storyline (duh), it does not have as good of an online server, and it is not as popular as the powerhouse Diablo II. Titan Quest is a worthy successor to the Diablo tradition, with many people labeling it as Diablo III.

Hellgate:
http://www.hellgatelondon.com/
Anyone notice how the Templars 3 skill sets are astonishingly similar to the Dablo II's Paladin?:
* Assault
These skills allow a Templar to increase his or her damage, improve his or her chances at landing critical blows, or even strike multiple targets at once. Some Templar can focus their will and righteous vengeance to add holy damage to their attacks.
* Invocation
These are ancient rites that greatly augment the offensive or defensive capabilities of the Templar for short periods of time. These often affect the physical abilities of the Templar, endowing a knight with supernormal strength, speed, defenses or fighting agility.
* Holy Aura
These radiant auras have a wide variety of effects, from damaging demons to providing greater defense to the Templar and his or her companions to flowing healing powers and so on. These auras are not active abilities in that once initiated they continue to emit their benefits until the Templar wills them to stop.
Also Blizzard has its own plans for continuing the Diablo II LoD Storyline -

That doesn't make it diablo III lol, and i prefer titan quest over hellgate london by far, but that is totally personal preference. I love greek mythology, so that really gives titan quest huge points in my book.
Blizzard has mentioned continuing the diablo storyline for years, i dont see a diablo 3 coming anytime soon.
oh and, THANK YOU!!! i have been trying to remember what mythos was called, i ran into it a few months ago and was really interested, then i forgot the name and couldn't find it. -

Hellgate london would be the RPG you would wanna be looking forward for..
If you like online but not mmo RPGs, i can think of no other.. than the Diablo series.. trust me even diablo 1 is still fresh and worth playing for anyone who has not tried it. One of the darkest Rpgs ever made, and definitely worth your time.
If your really into lore, magic, story, beautiful music.. Baldur's gate series is a must! i have loved that game to death.. and have replayed it like 5-6 times.. and each will last your at least 50 or more hours worth of gameplay. Story is really great too. And after.. if you love it and haven have enough, carry on to try icewind dale series, planescape torment, Fallout series which is as good as baldurs gate.
Other mixture of RPG type i would recommend is Heroes of might and magic 3, not 4 , not 5.. but ****ing classic 3 ! haha i dunno why to me its still the best out of the whole series, music , sound , graphics, system , interface , gameplay, nothing beats 3.. thats why 4 and 5s are such disappointments.. i can go on n on.. but shan't.
Other RPGs worth mentioning for the PC :
Final Fantasy 7 & 8 for the pc
Titan quest
Dungeon Siege 2 + expansion (game system but lack story again..)
argh i know i got more.. but can't think of them now.. will update later..
Edited! oh yeah.. and Dark Messiah's not bad.. if you like Oblivion.. -

If you liked oblivion the next game you should seriously consider is two worlds. Very similar game play, but slightly better all around if you are comparing them side by side. Graphics, gameplay, it even has limited multiplayer. Note that its just barely better imo, and you might still like oblivion better just because oblivion was what you tried first.
-
are any of these new games like Two Worlds, Hell gate london, etc. gonna work decently on my graphics card?
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
yeah go 6600 should be able to handle these games. you will have to turn the graphics to "low" most likely, but that doesn't mean it wont look good.
-
Gothic I
Gothic II + The Night Of The Raven
Gothic III
, greatest series ever. -

What about rpg's that are different every time you play? Games with Random Monster encounters? Besides oblivion, what other games offer a different type of playing experience every time?
Thanks,

gothic 3 was pretty bad imho (so bad the development team got kicked off gothic 4)
-
And the fault imo was whole on publisher Jowood, which didn't give enough time to develop this huge game, but rushed it on christmas market. You can see this same picture with almost all Jowood's games. And this lack of flexibility was the main reason for PB/Jowood separation. I'm glad for PB that they separated (looking forward for the next project), and dissapointed for that Gothic brand is now in hands of Jowood.
In this current state v1.12+1.4 CommunityFix, G3 is imo best in the series, the better stories and fighting in G1+G2 just don't cut when you look the whole picture. -

One more vote to Diablo 2 (with LOD).
Even though the game's dated, it's still addicting. If you don't mind the inferior graphics (compared to Oblivion and whatever other games you've played), you'll enjoy it very very much.
You don't get to do as much as in Oblivion/Morrowind. All you do is kill things. To me, I like RPG without many options. I don't want to be able to steal a pair of boots, I just want blast some Hell lvl Cows with my Frozen Orb!!!
But yeah, go with D2. -
OK, I like realistic SWORD FIGHTING, I was a big fan of Blad of Darkness, and
I eagerly bought Oblivion because of all the good rating, but I was completly disapointed in the sword fighting.
I want a game where you can lock-in on a opponant, dodge, block, parry,
and lop of a few limbs and heads with some cool combos.
I don't see the fun of running up to a zombie, clicking the left mouse button as quick as you can and seeing the zombie fall. If you did that in BoD you would get killed. And BoD is 6 YEARS OLD.
Are there any games I should look into? Future games? -
Titan Quest, replayed many times, great modern alternative to Diablo.
Oblivion, great game but for some reason I got about half way through then lost interest. (I may have ADD but I never pay attention to the doctor)
Currently going through STALKER a second time on a higher difficulty setting. -
Looks really good.
From the description at Gamespot:
....Regardless of the style that you choose, it's important that you maintain a rhythm in a swordfight. If you rapidly tap the mouse button, like you do in many RPGs, you'll interrupt Geralt's natural movements. Through practice, you'll discover the optimal moments when to hit the mouse button to initiate an attack. The system requires some skill, but that was the goal, as the designers felt that combat in many RPGs was either too automated or too mindless.... -

I should see if I can get fraps to work with ZAngband and post some screens to the GO7400 screen shot thread -
Everyone here has overlooked FATE...that game is an exact diablo 2 clone with updated graphics and a unique twist..the pet! Check it out at WildTangent...
-
how about the Prince of Persia series?
-
prince of persia gets boring after a bit...i took a 1 week break from it, and never got back to it

I bought Two Worlds last week and it's a blast! I'm very surprised my laptop can run Two Worlds at mostly high settings, 1280x960 and I only took out the shadows and AA, lessened the grass draw distance. BTW, the shadows option is only available after applying the 1.4 patch.
Anyway, some insights into Two Worlds. The battle system rocks. The graphics are pretty much like Oblivion, probably even better, and it's really optimized for the PC. (I assume this because my craptastic laptop runs it at 20-25 FPS outdoors or while fighting and 30+ FPS indoors, given that there's the eye-candy!... O_O I can run Oblivion with the same FPS and similar eye-candy, but only at 1024x768) The variety of fighting styles is a bit wide, but nothing stellar, but at least it's like Oblivion with meteor storms, multi-arrow shots, explosive traps, etc. One thing that will annoy people is lack of hotkeys for magic skills. You can only hotkey up to 3 spells. So it's annoying because you have to go back to the skills menu and drag and drop the spells when you want to apply multiple buffs on yourself. The monsters are quite ordinary and they're the guys you'd expect from most RPGs with the medieval type of setting. Orcs, wolves, bears, undead, dragons, and some other freakshows awaiting to be killed. The gameplay is fast paced and leveling up is easy and it's definitely different from Oblivion, which I say is hard to level up in. Two Worlds is close to Diablo II when it comes to this system. Everything else is much like Oblivion except for the battle and leveling system. The graphics are similar, the setting is similar, the quests are plentiful. Oh, I forgot. There's multiplayer in Two Worlds! XD -
Anyone here play Dungeon Siege 2 ?? Is that game any good ?? Is it more like Titan Quest or NWN 2 ??
-
two worlds is out?
EDIT: this game sounds intresting-------> Gods: Lands of infinity -
Not in the US at least. =P
