The Tech Report has done an overview of the upcoming 8790M. But who cares about that, that's a mid-range card to replace the 7690M.

What I took from it... AMD has said the 8000M GCN is the same as the GCN from 7000M, no new features etc. Why is this good news? Well, that means whatever driver improvements they make for the 8000M will be improvements for the 7000M GCN also. And they do need to keep improving them.

Cool. All I knew was that GCN 2.0 is coming, but glad to know mobile majority will be GCN 1.0 which is what I have. So very happy AMD will continue to be forced to improve their Enduro switchable drivers.
