French court ruled that users should be able to resell their digital copies of games purchased on Steam:

As a person who dislikes the fact I cannot resell or give away stuff that I don't need, regardless if this is digital or physical, this is a good news and I hope same thing will someday come to this country as well. Not only for Steam but for every digital distribution store as well. And before anyone will start saying "this will make developers bankrupt" - no, it won't. It will just teach them to make GOOD games which people will be willing to pay for new copy instead of used, especially when it comes to multiplayer games which people can play for months or years if the game is good (like I did with TF2, which I used to play almost every day for several years). People who want to thank developers who made GOOD game can always buy an extra new copy for their friends anyway.

Overall this would be great if imposed to steam. I have 460 games that I never even installed or played or downloaded. I'd love to give some away for no price at all if really someone wanted them lol

Amazing. This will certainly be some new boundaries for developers as they now need to be able to garuantee re-sell and succesful transfer of the title between accounts. Change of paradigm for sure

If the devs also get a cut of that sale it would be fantastic.

Disagree completely about the cut, when you buy something it is yours and you owe no one anything. You don't send money to other manufacturers of anything else when you sell it, why are these people any different? Greed is getting out of hand and they're training people to think it's ok to screw them over for more when they already made their money. Absolutely disagree. They've used their control of the puppets (AKA politicians) to pass laws taking away your rights of ownership. Don't ever think that is right, it's just the powerful stealing what is rightfully yours from you. One small wrong has been righted here, that's all that happened.
