I'm sending my dv6500t back to HP and getting the Dell XPS 1530. This move is soley for the purpose of upgrading to the 8600M GT. The HP wins over the Dell for style points - but HP screwed up by not having the GT in their graphics card lineup. I went to Dell stand at my local mall and got a very very sweet deal on the 1530. $300 off, plus another $42 off and another $50 off for getting the 3 year warrnety plan. On top of that - they gave me a $200 gift card to spend at the dell store. I'm thinking about purchasing an XBOX with it. That is almost $600 in savings. In the end I'm roughly paying $300 more for the Dell - but its worth it.

The dv6500t def. has a lot more style than the 1530 - BUT - I will say this about the Dell - it is alot more slick - very tight and chizzled - which I like a lot.

I really like the style of the XPS. BTW did they JUST add the 8600m GT? :O I'm pretty sure it wasn't there a few weeks ago. My buddy got that XPS with the 8400, man he's going to be pissed :D

Yeah the 1530 is brand new - it came out a couple days ago I believe. You can see the Review here:

Yeah - If you want to try any respectable 3D games released in the last two years or so, 8600m GT is necessary. Should be fine for the next year and a half or so too for anything coming out considering the new graphics engines (UT3, ET: QW, Crysis, CoD 4, Gears of War) run respectably on this hardware.

I think the 8600m GT will be useful for more than a year and a half. With Games for Windows getting a lot of 360 ports, and the 8600m GT being able to play them easily, it should be good if you plan to use it as a console replacement. Although PC exclusive games will eventually become far superior than console games in a year or so.
