lol what would google DO with valve? They are not into gaming so that doesn't make sense unless they were interested in steam that could be the only thing.

No, no. Google plans to buy a valve. To replace a broken one in the staff washroom at HQ.

Shotdown! by the PR man for Valve himself.

Google and valve have no coherence to becoming purchased and purchaser.... That is the worst possible rumor ever...

I love Valve and I love Google, but I don't know if they would mesh quite as well as Chocolate and Peanut Butter.

I like that Steam is run by a privately owned company. If Google got their hands on it, I'm sure it would be pretty cool at first, and maybe it would stay that way, but the long-term effects could be harsh. Google has kept focus for several years now, but they will have to be very vigilant (keeping their mantra "Don't be evil" close to their hearts) lest they turn "corporate".

Valve doesn't have to worry about this, not until Gabe Newell sells the company. If he DOES sell it, I'd rather it be Google than EA (right now, at least). EA just DESTROYED its own image with the Spore DRM fiasco, I don't know WHAT they will do to fix it. If they got their hands on Steam, they might end up setting some arbitrary limit of logins or some crazy thing like that because some drunk analyst said to do it.
