I'm sure many of you guys have heard about the new RPG game that just a week ago hit the shops. Well, I was wondering if any of you had the pleasure of playing it and would tell me whether or not my laptop could handle the game on mid settings. I've got a Dell E1705: 1Gb ram, 1.83Ghz core duo, 7900GS 256mb and a WUXGA screen. Thanks for your help( if I get any) lol.

I haven't got a chance to play it, but you should be able to handle it better than most people. You have one of the most powerful mobile cards on the market, so you have nothing to worry about in graphical quality.

I'm happy you replied but I'm looking for an opinion of a person who has already played Gothic3. I've heard of many problems tied with this product, most in the requirements department. So, anyone else?

The game is extremely resource hungry. I haven't yet played too deep into the game, but at the beginning I get around 30-40 FPS (20-30 FPS during battle, i.e. with lots of NPCs) This is on FX2500m/stock clocks with everything maxed out except resolution which is 1280x800. I've tried medium settings (also @ 1280x800) and got around 50 FPS (30-35 in battle). Beware, though, that some people complain about graphical glitches at lower settings.

I really hope I'l be able to enjoy the game on medium settings.... If I upgraded to 2gb ram wwould I have a better chance?

well i ran it 1440 x 900 on high settings somewhere in the 20s fps
That game starts out right in a area that is taxing on your system, in a city. If you played the earlier gothics you know the city has lots of people walking around on their own little schedule.
Your computer couldnt run it on high at wuxga no I think you would be at like 20 fps on medium
The game itself is not impressive looking at all it looks very old. whats most taxing for my computer is all the people walking around. I think theirs a good chance it would run better with 2 gb ram
As great as the 7900 gs is wuxga is a huge resolution. If you played oblivian I can tell my computer ran oblivian at twice the fps of gothic 3 even though oblivian is much better looking
Gothic 3
