I am eagarly awaiting this one! Taking 3 months off work due to redundancy and this is number one of my list to play along with Fifa 11. The graphics look top and the open gameworld looks tidier than Oblivion. I hope this is not a fail with bugs like the last one though!

Holy Crap.
Downloaded. I'm so hyped for this game. -
Let's just hope that it's not as bad as gothic 3 on release.

Asus G73. It crashes @ startup. One of my cores gets maxed in 2.2 seconds, another hits 2/3 usage and two have about 20%. The specs are a lot higher than Steam listed them to be. Glad I didn't pre-order as I didn't like Risen and G3 was a buggy mess.

When gothic 3 was released... It's only runnable on SLI 8800 GTX desktop (the most powerful back then), at a mere playable 10-20fps...

Huh? I ran it on my old Toshiba SLi1 [T7250 and 8600m GT sli] for 6hrs, then I saved just before a memory leak took out my game. The save saved the leak too [cause it crashed in two minutes each and every time] and I never went back to the game. Risen was too much of a grind [much worse than G3] and felt like the child of G3 and Maximo and the Army of Zin. I like RPGs that concentrate more on exploration, such as Oblivion. This is why I waited for the G4 demo. -
i run it on my laptop all full and i get 25fps!!

WTH? Is your CPU OC'd? Why the heck won't it run on my G73!? -
Maybe it's because you got a G73
-
your ati catalyst software is probably freaking out
he has a 260m

I was thinking it was the CPU because I'm maxing one core [Asus Turbo is enabed]. I happens right at startup and the two sort of coincide. It could be the ATI drivers because I'm currently running 10.6 and am waiting for 10.10 since 10.8 screws up 2D and there is no 10.9 for mobile, but it looked like a CPU issue.
Thank God this isn't a game I was looking forward to. -
no its not overlclocked.i have an i7 720m.
-
Really? I can't avg 25fps on 1280x800.
-
Doesn't even load the menu... maybe it's my FirePro driver?
-
Never played the gothic series before. The game looks kinda like Fable 1 which i really liked. Is it an actual combat based game like fable was or is it point and click (like WoW style?)
-
Judging from people's experience, it seems that gothic 4 is another gothic 3 on release?
-
im running the game on highest settings without a problem with my 5870, game looks and feels amazing.
-
Run FRAPS.
What's your framerate? -
on ultra shadows it was about 21-24 outside in sun i turned down to high and now im getting 28-31 underground 35+
-
Ah. Yeah I think it's the shadows my GPU can't handle.
Btw, are you at 1080p or 1600x900? -
I had playable frame rates on my 5650 at 1366x768. Nothing special, but it's playable lol. Time to get fraps I guess.
-
Well I just downloaded and tested the 360 demo of the game. Damn what a horrible framerate on the 360. I get pretty bad framerate on my XPS M1730 too at 1920x1200.
I will see if I can make a better SLI profile for the game. -
1080p my friend. i will never screw the res and will only play on highest i hate small res. YouTube - Arcania 2010 09 25 12 22 52 89
-
Wow. So either the Mobility 5870 is kicking my 260M's tail that badly, or something is wrong on my end.
You get better frames at 1080p than I do at much lower resolutions with lower settings. -
hmm i dont know, my 5870 has amazing strenght tho, i can clock high if i want to without much trouble. im sure when the game is out tho the new drivers will optimize for it.

I go it to run on my laptop, I had to change my default sound frequency to 48KHz. 24-30fps.
-
The game looks ok but the performance requirements dont make any sense reading all of your posts. Im getting 30fps comfortable at medium settings with Physx running so it has to be poorly optimised for that to happen.
Fraps doesnt change significantly unless your start turning off the 5 shadow settings but even when you do you dont see much of a gain there. I was getting barely 20 on High at 1440-900 and 29-34 on medium at 1440-900. With SLI running.
My GPU load on medium only reaches 240mb?? How can this be such a drag with so little drain!
Gothic 4!!
