Never played the gothic series before, but i was looking for a non point and click rpg and i came across this. Its similar to fable 1 from the videos i see.(You actually aim and control combat etc). Has anyone tried it though? Gamespot only gave it a 5/10 so i dunno if its worth it.

Its awful game, but from the eyes of gothic fan like myself i cant be objective. But this game dont deserve Gothic name in it.

Its simple hack and slash game, not challenging at all, with shallow story and awful combat sistem, dialogues, one of the same npc models, only graphic is nice

Everything what you've read in GS review is absolutely true.

witcher is not point and click, neither is WoW, as long as you are using the right control setting. Gothic IV, from my experience isn't so bad though, the graphics is quite amazing, combat is also quite ok.

Pure hack&slash. Not an rpg, coz even developing character is bad.

I dunno, i find WoW to be super boring, witcher is ok but its not much better either. Basically what i dont like is just right clicking on something and watching my character attack, its super boring and i prefer actual controlled combat.

I take it you've never tried DmC or zelda even? Zelda is a weak form of hack and slash but its still fun regardless. Atleast theres some immersion involved

I thought the demo was fun. May give it a try.

It might be cheap during steam holiday sale.

    @shinakuma9

Oh yes i tried, but this is "gothic" it suppose to be one of the best rpg with character development and story out there and combat sistem. Have you ever played gothic 2 for example?

The series has its cult following of fans, but its predecessor and this game also come bundled with too many flaws to make it a really enjoyable experience. The 1st 2 are classics in their own right though.

Minimum system requirements for this game include a desktop GF8800GTX. The game runs SO SO on my laptop, it's barely playable. The plot is interesting though.

I play it on max with my laptop, epic game. Though theres no vsync, when paused it tends to run so many frames which increases the temp of my video card.

I couldn't enjoy any of the series, they reminded me of oblivion which i hated. Witcher seemed retarded at controls. Have you tried dragon age?

Witcher like any good PC game allows you to map your controls however you want... And I prefer Witcher to Dragon Age in just about every way. Story, gameplay, the combat without the annoying NPC party members, and even the dialogue itself.

As for Gothic 4, reviews say it's a fun and great game if what you want is a fun game. If you are looking for another game in the series of Gothic, then you will be disappointed.

    Here is my opinion:

The graphics are amazing if you have a decent system to display them. Storyline is not too bad and there are many side quests to do in between main quests. Combat can be pretty simple depending on how you want to play it. You can develop your character to be strong in one of 3 combat types, magic, melee or archery.

I have been playing it for the last week now and have encountered no bugs or glitches yet and it plays well at medium settings, full resolution with my laptop. (high settings was too much for my aging lappy to handle)

It's not a bad game at all. If you like 3rd person hack and slash RPGs that are on the simple side, you will enjoy this. If you want something with a little more depth, involvlement and storyline, then look else where.

I'll have to give this one a shot, but Dragon Age hit my sweet spot for RPG & Hack/Slash.

    I don't think there's any hack/slash in dragon age, it's more or less a d20 style combat.

For Dragon Age I click on bad guy after bad guy and my character hacks and slashes a line of carnage straight through the advancing horde. That's my definition of hack/slash.
