    Alright folks an easy one.....

Been without a computer (except the rubbish effort at work) for a few years but with my new lappy im sure i can get some decent games to run!

So if i give you a flavour of what i used to play then you could give me an up to date similar game or alternatives: Ive got an acer 5680, 2GB, XP, G7600

Civ 3, age of empires 2 etc

    C&C red alert, total annhilation

    Doom 2 etc

Like the real time strategy games and 1st person shooters but also used to love flight sims....especially ww2 ones.

And is there anything like the old classic frontier ? trading/space game etc.

    cheers folks :D

I enjoy WarCraft III a lot.
Diablo II is good or try Titan Quest (it's a lot like Diablo II).
For first person shooter Battlefield 2142 is really fun.

Ok RTSs: Company of Heroes, Age of Empires III, Warcraft III, Medieval II: Total War, Supreme Commander, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, civ 4.

FPSs: Doom 3, Half Life 2 (And episode 1), Counter Strike: Source (Multiplayer), S.T.A.L.K.E.R., F.E.A.R., Rainbow Six: Vegas

    Flight Simulator X

There are some good WW2 flight simulators on PC too.. There was a good Xbox game.. Secret Weapons over Normandy I think it was

I second Company of Heroes, Battlefield 2142, Supreme Commander, Warhammer (but the whole series), Civ 4, HL2, and CS:S. I was recently in your predicament and that's what I've been playing, except Civ 4. Your enjoyment of Civ4 depends a bit on your love of previous Civ games. Everyone I know who played the old ones got bored quickly (including me) but people new to the franchise loved it.

Yes, Company of Heroes is awesome RTS. You should certainly try it. The F.E.A.R. is pretty cool FPS game. The multiplayer part of the game is totally free: http://www.joinfear.com

    Cheers for the replies!

I reckon for starters ill try doom 3 (loved the originals), half life 2, civ4 and warcraft3.

I had a look at company of heroes and battlefield 2142 and they look stunning, just worried they might struggle on my system ? Is it worth getting them or will they be unplayable ? (2GB, core2duoT700, G7600, XP)

Certainly not unplayable. Actually not even close to that. Your hardware can handle those games pretty well. Not with maximum graphics settings but with medium to high easily.

There are screenshots in the forum of people playng it with x1400 and they get good frame rates and also get decent quality aswell :) so an 7600 will handle it very well :)
