so i was playing crysis 2 on my laptop the other day and didn't realize that my graphics card got up to 94 degrees celsius. I don't think i had it there for very long but i was just wondering if there is anyway i can like run a scan or something on it to see the health of my graphics card. I'm affraid if I open up my laptop that it will void my warranty. I currently own a malibal laptop..

clevo laptops are user upgradable on ram and hard drive so you should not void your warranty in any way as its recommended to open them upon a regular basis to clean the fans out of dust which builds up and then causes higher temperatures.
edit: forgot to ask. which laptop do you have and what spec has it got.
this is an old post from a couple of years ago and the latest laptops of course will have more powerful gpu/cpu so temps could get a little higher.

It really depends on what graphic card you have. I have a 580M and max for me would be 99C.
94C would be a tiny bit high in my opinion. Especially if you have an older card. -
-
Put that on your lap, and your laptop may scorch your thighs... -
Sorry I realized my wording wasn't adequate.
The maximum operating temperature is 99C. When running full load at slight OC, my 580M is on 85C average, peaking at 89 sometimes.
EDIT: Maximum Operating Temperatures = Specify the range of temperatures in which the CPU/GPU is guaranteed to function. Your GPU life length is going to shorten though the closer to these temperatures you are. -
Which GPU is this? And are you running with a cooling pad? 94C seems really high for a Clevo build. The 6990M in my Malibal almost never even hits 80, though flat on a desk I can get it up to 85ish.

I have a gtx 485m and runs 40 degrees celsius on idle
-
my gts 360m gets to 95-96c almost every time i game, and I've had it for a year. Peak I've seen it hit is 99c. I'm not really comfortable reapplying thermal paste on my own so I might just get Asus to do it before my warranty runs out.
Just to be clear though, at these temps I've never encountered a single crash ever. -
I have two questions for you, were you playing with the laptop on a bed, or blanket, perhaps the carpet? With extremely high end laptops, they always need to be on a hard flat surface with the rear elevated. Also, next time you are playing, try holding the fn key and press 1. It should turn your fans on max.

I was playing on a table that had a table cloth on it plus crysis 2 with 3d graphics is a very graphic game so it needs alot of power with the settings i was using and i was not using a cooling pad i am actually trying to find a good cooling pad for my laptop i have a malibal satori that is 17.4 in.
-
Yeah, a suggestion while you are looking for a cooling pad. Take a book that is at least an inch think and prop up the rear of the laptop. If you were on a table cloth (if it is a thicker one) that might be the reason why it got so hot.
-
If anyone could recommend me a notebook cooler that would be awesome
-
I don't believe any one asked whether or not it was overclocked?
-
No it was not overclocked because then that would void my 2 year warranty i paid $80 for

1) CoolerMaster SF-19

find a tool to ramp up your fans. else do a mod to the fan to make it run high. (unplug the PWM wire from it if it has one)
Gpu overheating
