The 8400M GS is about one and a half times as powerful as the 7400Go, and is dx10 compatible. Don't try playing crysis on it, tho.

Can the 8400 GS run counterstrike: source??!
-
almost anything can run cs source.
-
even if you can't play DX10 at max settings, I'm pretty sure these cards can play at some mid to high settings -
desktop 8600GT( 8700M) gets 11fps on call of juarez on 1280*1024 resolution w/o AA. turn AA on, fps drops down the 5. alot of settings has to be turned down to get decent frame rate -
Huh? What's that you say? Lost Planet is DX10 you say? Company of Heroes is DX10 you say? No, those are patches slapped onto DX9 games.
Once Crysis comes out, then you can make claims like that. Otherwise its just, blech.
Edit: Call of Juarez is a benchmark turned into a game. -
Sure COH DX10 is from a patch, its still DX10 -
How old is the source engine now? 3...4 years maybe? And people are still asking if brand spanking new graphics chips will have problems with it. -
You guys sure do take your DX10 seriously! As said 8400m GS kicks Go 7400 no if ands or butts! Same series diff generation.
ZT3000!: Please tell me don't really live in the D but some where close! I am worried about you. Move to A2! Safe! Kinda only 3 stabbings in a week. -

The poor performance of the demos on high-mid range cards is mostly due to pathetic coding. Just take Lost planet as an example. It's a pain to get running, and even when it does run, it's as buggy as an Amazon rainforest.
I have no doubt that the 8600GT would be sufficient to play crysis at med settings once the final release is out.
Just a month more to wait..... -
Stay safe brotha! -
