Your card has 128MB memory ON THE VIDEOCARD, that 230MB is system memory (RAM) that your videocard can use. So a part of your system memory (I don't know how much memory you have, prob. 1GB or 2GB) can be used by your videocard.

for ex : if you are playing a game and it needs memory , so it will use 128mb then if it needs more it will use shared memory

I don't think any of the above posts are very clear, so I will try to clarify things a little. At worst I will have just repeated what others said.

The Intel chip can only borrow from system RAM; hence the 0MB in the dedicated video memory section. By default, the Intel chip borrows 128MB of system RAM for its own use as VRAM. However, it may borrow an additional 230MB that is set aside for the card. Hence, the Intel chip can borrow a total of 128+230MB = 358MB.

Bog I agree but want to clarify at the risk of repeating. The 128MB is set aside reserved (location) from the system memory. The 230MB is not set aside.

I do not know the X3100 but ATI 1150m you can make adjustments to the amount set aside. I can go from 64MB to 250MB and the shared is an equal amount.

I don't think you can, you could buy a notebook with a stronger integrated graphix card, go for a GeForce or something
